Lin Jin rested for about half an hour before the chills in his body dissipated. However, being skilled in Vein Strengthening, Lin Jin realized that this cold had miraculous effects on him practicing this cultivation method. He tried it out and sure enough, it worked. This was considered a blessing in disguise. By using a fire-spirit imbued needle to regulate his veins with the cold in his body, the effective rate of Vein Strengthening increased.
This was the reason why Lin Jin invested so much time and effort into Vein Strengthening. At least his physical body and spirit energy would grow stronger.
After he recovered enough energy, Lin Jin treated the white ape in case that old dragon came back for trouble. However, he was also sure that the old dragon didn’t gain anything from this incident. That last attack Lin Jin performed by messing up one of his veins was enough to keep the old dragon away for a period of time.
In addition, he might be scared too.
But even if he was, the old dragon might have other methods as well, for example, sending others to give Lin Jin trouble. Lin Jin still remembered the suicide squad.
They couldn’t stay here anymore so Lin Jin moved Xiao Huo and White Ape to a different location. Once he confirmed their safety, he entered the Visitation Hall, which was why Lin Jin was this late.
After putting on the curator’s mask, no one could sense Lin Jin’s aura and status.
Once he opened the door, sure enough, He Qing was downstairs, waiting.
She seemed to be alright but since she hadn’t come looking for him, she must be trapped as well.
He asked and she confirmed his suspicions.
“Curator, please inform your disciple to relax. Once I can leave, I’ll seek him out immediately. Also, does Curator know about my sister’s condition?”
This was obviously He Qing’s greatest concern.
Since she was locked up and forbidden from going out, she surely wouldn’t know about He Yu’s condition.
After a thought, Lin Jin said, “Things are somewhat troublesome but she should be fine.”
He was referring to that golden needle of his. Since it was imbued with his psyche, if they weren’t too far apart, Lin Jin could still sense He Yu’s condition.
Although He Yu was still unconscious and frail, her life wasn’t in danger. If the golden needle continued to protect her heart veins, things should be fine.
However, while her condition wouldn’t worsen, it wouldn’t get better either. He was only protecting He Yu’s heart veins from letting the bestial soul curse devour her life energy completely. This was a stalemate and if time went on, it would turn into an issue.
Hence, to Lin Jin, time was of the essence.
He Qing never mentioned Lu Bin so she must be oblivious to what had happened. After all, she was under ‘house arrest’ right after meeting with Lin Jin that evening, unable to leave her yard.
As Lin Jin spoke with He Qing, no one dared to interrupt. It wasn’t until they saw the curator silent and deep in thought that Ghost Child spoke up, “Curator, if you need any help, just say the word.”
She declared her intention.
Black Crow echoed after her, “I’ve been to Jade Dragon Kingdom before. Evil Scholar and I haven’t returned yet so we can make a trip to Jade Dragon Kingdom.”
Lin Jin stayed quiet.
If it were up to Lin Jin, he felt it inappropriate to let them help because this was Jade Dragon Kingdom’s royal capital. Moreover, Jade Dragon Kingdom’s emperor was probably behind all this, but for now, Lin Jin genuinely couldn’t do this alone. The old dragon was too strong to defeat. If the Visitation Hall hadn’t opened in the nick of time and the curator’s aura hadn’t leaked through and frightened the dragon away, Lin Jin would have been a goner.
After a thought, Lin Jin said, “If it’s not out of your way, come over. But remember to keep a low profile. Once you’ve arrived, head over to the royal capital’s Hu Tea House. I’ll have my disciple receive you.”
Ghost Child and Black Crow nodded.
This was of no issue to them. Although Jade Dragon Kingdom was indeed powerful, villainous experts like them couldn’t care less. The curator was their benefactor so as long as he needed it, they would see the request through.
Ye Yuzhou offered to go as well but Lin Jin rejected.
Unlike Ghost Child and Black Crow, Ye Yuzhou’s status was a concern. The man was a citizen of Jade Dragon Kingdom and one of the nation’s guardians to boot. If they ever get into a fight with the emperor because of He Yu, Ye Yuzhou would be in an awkward position.
Black Crow and Ghost Child were acceptable, but not Ye Yuzhou. Moreover, these two experts were enough so Ye Yuzhou need not make the trip.
Subsequently, Lin Jin answered some of their questions on pet beasts. He didn’t leave immediately after but inquired about their understanding of spell barriers instead.
Lin Jin wanted to research this spell.
The old dragon was too powerful that Lin Jin learned a lesson. If he had knowledge of spell barriers, he might be able to borrow the curator’s aura. Though that wouldn’t cause any damage, it could definitely stun his opponent.
Black Crow didn’t know much about spell barriers and was currently trying to figure it out. Ye Yuzhou and Ghost Child were able to share some information while Ye Yuzhou knew more about the subject.
This discussion was filled with nothing but ‘dry goods’ and Lin Jin felt that he had learned a lot.
As expected of Maple City Friar Association’s number one mentor, Ye Yuzhou was packed with knowledge.
Lin Jin took out the star-filled flag he just looted to show Ye Yuzhou and the others, wondering if they knew anything about it.
“This is the Nebula Barrier!” Ye Yuzhou immediately exclaimed. He took the flag, examined it, and then nodded. “Curator, this item is a treasure, probably passed down since ancient times. If one can research and understand just even the basics should be more than beneficial for them.”
Ye Yuzhou wasn’t exaggerating. Lin Jin could tell this was a unique item too so he brought it here, hoping the others might know something about it.
Ghost Child’s explanation was mostly similar to Ye Yuzhou’s but her knowledge in spells wasn’t profound as his so she said no more. After a moment of silence, Black Crow seemed to have thought of something and slapped his own forehead before saying something to the black falcon.
The latter then unwillingly opened his mouth and spat something out.
It was an old book.
“Curator, last month when I raided an immortal’s cave, I found this old book and it contains this ‘Nebula Barrier’s information.” Black Crow presented the book.
Excited, Lin Jin immediately cast a spell to retrieve it.
Now wasn’t the time for courtesies. The moment he skimmed through, Lin Jin was thrilled.
Sure enough, this book contained information on the ‘Nebula Barrier’ and in great detail.
“Curator, now that natural spirit energy is scarce and the path to immortality is lost, I’ll be frank and tell you that I’ve tried researching this spell but can’t cultivate it at all so I just kept it. I thought the name sounded familiar so I remembered that I still have this book. Since I have no use for it, you can keep it, Curator,” Black Crow offered generously.
Ye Yuzhou chuckled. “Old Black, that storage spell of your black falcon’s is quite amazing.”
Black Crow grinned sheepishly. “It’s just a little trick and nothing compared to what you can do, Old Ye.”
