“Madame Gu has moved to the front yard and she has got many maids and pageboys serving her. Our stuff would not come handy.” Sword One said, sounding quite annoyed for her Miss. Her Miss had done everything in vain.
Hearing what Sword One said, Gu Chaoyan more or less realized what happened.
She suspected that Gu Zhenkang understood that he needed Madame Gu to deal with this enormous affair, so he turned to Madame Gu for help. He was expecting Madame Gu to help the Gu Mansion regain its old reputation.
She did not expect that after being abandoned by her own son, Madame Gu still did not mind what her son had done to her earlier.
She shook her head slightly. If that was the case, she would not have any help in the future.
“Just pack away the stuff. We can bring it all to Saint College if Madame Gu doesn’t need it. And you don’t have to visit her again.” Gu Chaoyan said calmly.
She sounded as if she did not care about this slight change at all.
Sword One, who still had some words of complaint, stuck out her tongue at seeing her Miss staying so calm before getting down to her own business.
She packed up their stuff.
The following day, Gu Chaoyan asked Sword One to tell Gu Zhenkang that they were heading to Saint College.
She had thought that the conversation would last long, but Gu Zhenkang gave a very quick response.
So when Sword One returned, she left with Gu Chaoyan.
Chen Fu got the wagon ready, and saw them off.
Gu Chaoyan threw a look at Chen Fu, who had aged overnight with a hunchback, as he stood next to them.
Gu Chaoyan went into the wagon directly.
The wagon left whilst another wagon pulled over at the door of the Gu Mansion.
It was a young man dressed in a blue robe. His face looked pale, and he asked the pageboy to tell the guard about his arrival. When the guard heard about his identity, he was shocked and said politely, “Please wait here, Young Duke, I am going to pass on the message now.”
The pageboy threw a look at the Young Duke.
The Young Duke nodded and said to the pageboy, “Thanks.”
The guard rushed in to pass on the message.
Gu Zhenkang was still busy helping out Madame Gu so he got confused about which Young Duke that was.
Madame Gu explained directly, “The Young Duke from the Duke North Mansion! He is the only person who can be called the Young Duke directly. He is the heir of Duke North, ask him to come in now!” Madame Gu got anxious, “And if someone like Young Duke is here, don’t make him wait, ask him to come to the front yard! He should not be left alone, we can’t afford to offend him!”
The guard responded and rushed out.
Gu Zhenkang felt that Madame Gu was looking down on his own mansion, but said nothing.
He turned to Cai Ming. “Go and tell the Third Lady that Young Duke is here, and she should be here.”
Madame Gu was confused as she looked at Gu Zhenkang.
“What are you asking Wanru to be here for?”
“Ruxue and Chaoyan are now both engaged, only Wanru is not yet settled with marriage. Caiqin is too young to get married, so Wanru should be ready for the meeting. What if the Young Duke is here because he likes someone here?”
