The words had just been spoken, when he rushed out directly and looked about in the yard. However, no one was seen.

Then he returned to the room and continued with the conversation with Xie Yan about what to do in the upcoming days.
Gu Ruxue had already left. She got frightened too. She did not expect that she would have stomped on something. Luckily, she ran fast enough not to be seen.
She ran all the way to the Pear Garden with her hands over her chest.
The Pear Garden was where Mrs. Gu was living.
The servants greeted Gu Ruxue politely at the sight of her.
Gu Ruxue did not care about any of these, but rushed into Mrs. Gu’s room. She glanced at the maids and said, “You can leave now, close the door, I need to speak with mom.”
The maids left.
Seeing the door closed, Gu Ruxue felt assured, sat down and let out a sigh of relief.
Mrs. Gu looked at Gu Ruxue and asked, “Ruxue, what happened? Your hair is messy.” She helped Gu Ruxue comb her hair.
Gu Ruxue was breathing fast and her mind was excited. It took her a while before she calmed down, because of what happened back in the yard.
She drank a few cups of tea, before she felt a bit more assured. “Mom, I just heard something amazing.”
“What is it?” Mrs. Gu realized that something serious was going on. She looked at the closed door and made sure that it was locked.
“Lord said that I am the Phoenix Girl that could help them get the world! So I will be the Queen!” Gu Ruxue said. She had to speak with someone about this, so she chose her mother to share the information, because her mom always favored her whilst her father did not. Father had treated her terribly when Lord Huai showed his favor to Gu Chaoyan, but her mother never did that. So her mother was the most trustworthy person when it came to the important matters.
Mrs. Gu got dumbfounded as she heard that. Her heart was roaring inside.
“Is that real?” Mrs. Gu asked again.
“Yes, or Lord would not have decided to marry me in the manner of the Princess Consort.” Gu Ruxue replied.
Mrs. Gu got up directly.
“Where are you going, mom?” Gu Ruxue asked, “Don’t tell father about it now.”
“I am getting the dowries for you!” Mrs. Gu said with determination. She had to get the dowries! Her Ruxue was marrying with glory!
