In the training room, some of the familiars who were training suddenly stopped and looked over alertly. Some of them started to make threatening noises with their throats.
When Dumby came into view, it was as if they had turned into ducks who were being strangled by the necks. The sounds suddenly stopped.
When Dumby left their field of vision, they started making noises again.
Lord-tier monsters were still quite rare. After all, being at the Perfect grade was a prerequisite for evolving.
There were tons of monsters around level 40.
The level 40 monsters were stuck at their tiers and couldn’t evolve, the reason being that they weren’t yet at the required grade.
Dumby just stood there quietly. Gao Peng ordered him to absorb the aura back into his body, and Dumby did as he was told.
Dumby’s grade didn’t matter anymore. He was a Lord-tier monster, and Lord-tier monsters possessed immense power.
Gao Peng let out a sigh of relief. He didn’t need to worry too much, especially with his family background, but it was always good to minimize any problems that might have popped up.
…
Zhou Tianmin brought a video file to his office and turned on a projector. A hologram projection appeared…
A conference table suddenly appeared in the room.
There were 12 seats at the table, most of them were empty. The elders weren’t the type of people who would spend most of their time in an office. Zhou Tianmin uploaded the video file. The other elders would receive it once they entered their offices.
After he finished uploading the file, he clasped his hands behind his back and left the room while humming a children’s song.
Now he just needed to wait for the others to receive the news.
That evening, in the Tianyuan Building in the Neon District, a fifty-year-old man with a yellow complexion and meticulously combed hair calmly turned off a projector. His eyes didn’t show any signs of anger. He was very calm and had a tiny smile on his face. “This is interesting. So, this is Ji Kun’s grandson. If I remember correctly, he should be eighteen and eight months old. He was able to train a familiar to the Lord-tier even though he’s so young. He’s definitely a genius.”
He stood up and looked down at the bustling Neon District. It was dominated by bright city lights, and the people were all dressed well. The Tianyuan Building was located in the most prosperous area in Edo City, and it was also located in the most prestigious area in the Neon District.
“I wonder… when will such a genius emerge in our Neon District…” Ping Jiang Men moved his hands in front of his body and adjusted his collar. “Though, with me, Ping Jiang Men, around, it should be enough!”
At the same time, a giant black monster roared into the night sky. Its hands were half-stretched, hugging against the building. Its black body blended into the building. In the dark of the night, it looked as if the Tianyuan Building had completely disappeared from the most prosperous street in the city. There wasn’t the slightest hint of light coming from the building.
At the foot of the building, pedestrians walked past it without much thought, not even noticing the current appearance of the Tianyuan Building.
Only a few of the pedestrians noticed that something was wrong. They looked in the direction of the building in fear.
On the other side of the Atlantic, in the Eagle District, a luxurious party was being held in an opulent villa. A female secretary in a gray suit walked downstairs towards a blond young man who was embracing a sexily dressed lady. She calmly said, “Elias, sorry for disturbing you, but there’s news from the meeting—”
Before she could finish speaking, she was interrupted by Elias. “Sorry, I’m having a party right now. If you have something you need to tell me, just tell me tomorrow.”
The female secretary still wanted to say something, but Elias held up his finger and said arrogantly, “You’re just an unimportant secretary that they sent over, and I’m your boss, so you need to keep your mouth shut. It probably isn’t anything important. If it were, the people from the national assembly would’ve contacted me already.”
After he finished speaking, Elias brought the girl he was with away from the villa. There was a swimming pool behind the villa that was almost like a small lake.
Elias gave the girl in his embrace a kiss and said softly, “Do you want to see my big boy?”
The girl suddenly looked very flustered. “Now?”
Elias laughed heartily, turned towards the lake, lifted up his right hand, and shouted like a madman, “Rennes!”
Boom!
Ripples started to form on the surface of the lake. They were accompanied by a long hum as a large monster emerged. There were greenish black rocks that looked like coral on its body, along with long red stripes. A red Lord aura shone its light in all directions, turning the entire lake a shade of red.
It opened its gigantic mouth and revealed rows of sharp teeth that were pointed inwards. The giant monster moved out of the lake, its slender body rushing up as if it was flying into the sky.
“Oh my god!” The girl in Elias’ arms widened her eyes and covered her mouth with her right hand. She couldn’t help but stiffen, and her entire body went cold.
The giant python flew into the air, wantonly revealing its body. The long stripes sparkled in a bloody red.
Finally, the giant python flew back into the bottom of the lake.
Elias suddenly squeezed his nose. “Damn, what is that smell.” He had smelled a very strong odor.
He looked down and saw that the girl had gone limp. Her pupils were dilated.
“F*ck!” Elias suddenly became uninterested. He dropped the girl by the lake and left.
He lit up a cigarette and suddenly thought of the news the secretary had mentioned. He went upstairs to turn on the projector.
After he had finished watching the video, he threw his cigarette into the ashtray, seemingly unimpressed. “What the hell. This is just a waste of time. It’s only a Lord-tier monster. That skeleton was quite cool though.”
…
This year’s World Youth Trainer Championship contenders were monster trainers who came from all over the world. They had all graduated high school.
In order to make managing all the people easier and to minimize the chances of any accidents, each of the contestants had brought along a group of people from their own country to stay with them in the mountain villas.
Gao Peng got out of the car at the edge of the mountain where the villas were located. He walked over curiously.
Although he was a referee and didn’t need to stay at the mountain villas, he was still curious about the contestants from abroad. Many of these foreign contestants were regarded as gods on the internet, and many of them were chosen as favorites to win the competition, as well.
Gao Peng disagreed. He had never held the belief that things from foreign countries were better.
Gao Peng, who was outside of the villa, saw large groups of people gathered. Many of them were squeezed together. Gao Peng overheard some of their conversations and realized that these people were groupies. Before the Cataclysm, these people would have followed around movie stars and pop stars, but now, the target of their affections was powerful monster trainers.
Gao Peng touched his face. Maybe someone like me?
Most of them were young students, perhaps in middle or high school. Among them were reporters hoping to get interviews with the contestants. Unfortunately for them, the contestants had been told not to give interviews to simply anyone.
There were quite a few security guards stationed at the mountain villa. The guards had blocked the crowds, keeping them outside.
Gao Peng walked forward and showed his clearance card for the guards to let him in. He then walked into the villa.
The place was very lively, since all of the people there were there for the competition. When Gao Peng walked in, he saw different familiars walking in different parts of the villa. He also saw contestants of different ethnic groups chatting with one another.
The competition was the next day, so many of the contestants felt very excited. Others were resting due to jet lag.
The familiars were all restraining themselves. None of them had gotten into any altercations with other familiars.
