Huo Yao crossed her legs and replied: [Get to the point.]
J: […]
The man was picking up his feet when he saw Huo Yao’s reply. He had a feeling he had contacted her at a bad time.
J felt puzzled by her reaction. He sat in front of the computer and contemplated for a couple of seconds before he answered: [I made some changes based on your suggestions. Can you tell me if I am on the right track? Is this what you meant?]
Huo Yao typed a new message: [Send it over.]
J sighed in relief when he saw the text message. He quickly sent her the zipped file he had already prepared.
Although the files were zipped, the size was rather large, so it took one minute for the file transmission to be completed even though both of them were using the best computers in the market.
Huo Yao unzipped the file. After spending two minutes to see its demo, she clicked on the database module.
Before long, she replied to him: [Average. I can see you finally have an inkling of how it is done.]
J felt unsurprised by her feedback. He pondered for a couple of seconds and wrote: [I am really curious about the independent database you mentioned. I wonder how it will look when it is ready.]
Huo Yao looked at the screen and contemplated.
After some time, she finally answered: [You will know when your data core is ready.]
J: [Okay. I will do my best…]
J: [Oh yes. Now that you mention it, can you help me check my data core?]
Huo Yao gathered her thoughts. She went through her computer and found a set of coding she had done previously and sent it to him without answering his previous question: [You can use this for reference.]
After clicking on send, Huo Yao turned off the computer, stood up, and walked over to the French windows. There was no moon tonight, so the sky was completely dark.
Huo Yao reached her hand out to open the glass door. A gust of cool wind swept into the room gradually clarifying her mind.
Recently, she frequently kept remembering things about her past and her current identity. It felt as though something was slowly awakening.
Huo Yao looked up at the night sky, deep in thought. After some time, she finally closed the door and went back into her bedroom.
**
The next day, Huo Yao came downstairs with a severe case of panda eyes. Also, her face was very pale and she looked unwell.
Huo Tingrui had to go to court today, so he had woken up early. The moment he saw how sick his little sister was, he quickly walked over. “Are you unwell?”
Huo Yao waved her hand nonchalantly and sniffled. “I am fine. I just have a slight cold.”
Huo Tingrui frowned. He reached his hand out and touched her forehead. Fortunately, she did not seem to have a fever. He walked over to the living room, opened a drawer, and asked. “Where are the meds stored?”
“It’s fine Brother Tingrui. I have a great constitution.” Huo Yao sat on the couch. She hugged her chest and pulled her jacket more tightly around herself.
Huo Tingrui turned his head to glare at her. She would have sounded more convincing if she did not look so sick.
Huo Yao did not bicker with him like she normally did. Instead, she shrank into the couch.
Huo Yulin also came downstairs. The moment he arrived, he saw his second older brother rummaging through the drawer, so he asked quizzically. “What are you looking for?”
Huo Tingrui said angrily without even raising his head, “Just look at her.”
Huo Yulin frowned when he saw Huo Yao and noticed that her face was particularly pale. He walked over to the side of the hall and quickly came back with some cold medicine and water.
Huo Yao looked at Huo Yulin once more and took the medication promptly.
Huo Tingrui scoffed in his heart when Huo Yao agreed to take the medicine since it was Huo Yulin giving it.
