Huo Yao hurriedly took a piece of pork ribs and placed it in Huo Tingrui’s bowl. “Of course, you can!”
Huo Tingrui picked up his chopsticks and glared at her before he said shamelessly, “I am deeply hurt, so you have to make me happy.”
Huo Yao’s face twitched.
After they were more or less done with dinner, Huo Tingrui took out his phone and replied to a text message. He put down the phone after he was done and looked at his little sister. “Oh yes. Fang Chen wants to have dinner tomorrow. He asked if you could make it.”
Huo Yao shook her head. “I’m not going. I don’t have time.”
Even though her school schedule was not tight, she had just joined Liu Qian’s research team. Since they were in the early stages of research, she would probably be quite busy for the time being.
Huo Yao paused and suddenly glanced at her second older brother. “Why are you so chummy with Fang Chen these days?”
“Not really. We only chat occasionally. He recently asked me to become a prosecutor,” answered Huo Tingrui.
Huo Yao raised her brow. “Is my brother going to become a government official?”
“I turned him down.” Huo Tingrui shrugged and said, “I don’t like dealing with officials. It’s exhausting.”
Huo Yao thought about the events that had transpired earlier this evening and nodded. “You have my support. Even though it is an iron rice bowl, you can earn more working as a lawyer.”
Huo Tingrui glanced at his little sister. How could she be thinking about money?
“Fine. I will tell Fang Chen that you won’t be going,” added Huo Tingrui.
“Uh huh.” Huo Yao nodded.
After dinner, Huo Tingrui sat in the living room with them and chatted briefly before going upstairs. He still had some work to settle with his employees.
Huo Yao curled up on the couch watching the news.
Huo Yulin sat beside her. When Huo Yao was chatting with Huo Tingrui earlier, he listened to the conversation as he worked on his laptop.
Huo Yulin raised his head for a look when he heard the news about some terrorist attack happening abroad after he was done entering some code. He turned to look at his little sister. “I didn’t know you liked watching the news.”
Huo Yao hugged her pillow and yawned. She said lazily with a drowsy look in her eyes, “I just watch it when I am bored.”
Huo Yulin smiled and responded. “If you are tired, then go back to your room and rest.”
Huo Yao nodded. She waited for the reporter on the television to finish before taking the remote and turning off the television.
She thought about the attack on the Ministry of National Security’s internet network and added. “Oh yes. Brother Yulin, since you are a government worker and there are terrorist attacks out there, you should be careful.”
After Huo Yulin came back from abroad, his junior invited him to join the National Academy of Medicine. Even though he currently only had a temporary pass, it was just a matter of time for him to receive a permanent pass considering all his experience abroad.
Huo Yulin felt surprised when his little sister suddenly brought this up. He paused and said, “Okay. Thanks.”
“Uh huh.” Huo Yao did not go on with the subject. She put the pillow aside and stretched before standing up from the couch. “Have an early night. Don’t work too late.”
“Okay.” Huo Yulin pointed at the computer and smiled. “I will go back to my room once I am done with this.”
Huo Yao acknowledged softly. She inadvertently glanced at the computer screen and paused briefly when she saw the code on the computer.
Was Huo Yulin interested in data cores?
Huo Yulin failed to notice Huo Yao looking at him since all his attention was on the computer.
He had taken computing when he was in university. In his free time, he had participated in coding competitions and was ranked second twice.
Even though he was not a hacker, he was very good at application creation.
