The Science and Engineering department was the most popular department at Tsing University and their faculty was top in the country.
Huo Yao took a book on Bioinformatics before she went back to take a seat.
Bioinformatics was about using software to consolidate and study statistical genomics and identify all abnormalities through systematic analysis.
Data analysis was difficult, so Bioinformatics was as challenging as any other Biology subject. Also, it was hard to get a job with this major, so even fewer people would opt for the course.
Now that they were living in the age of information, data analysis would become a major trend, so Huo Yao did not mind taking the subject.
Since she had a foundation in medicine, she would have an edge when it came to doing data analysis. It would help make up for her lack of knowledge in Biology.
The library was very quiet since no one was talking. All she could hear was the sound of people flipping through their books.
Huo Yao lowered her head and read without paying attention to her surroundings. In about ten minutes, she had already read one third of the book.
Jiang Mingyue had brought a female freshman to the library to show her around and to find some books she needed.
She walked right up to the rack containing Science and Engineering books. She ran her finger through every row of books, but she was only able to find one book out of the two she needed.
Jiang Mingyue frowned as she muttered. “That’s odd. Did someone take out the book on data analysis?”
A female freshman glanced at her quizzically, standing beside her. Since Jiang Mingyue had spoken softly, the girl had trouble hearing her. “Sorry, Mingyue. What were you saying?”
Jiang Mingyue kept her eyes on the bookshelves. She tried looking for it again but to no avail. “Someone has already borrowed the book I came for.”
“Why don’t you ask around and see when it was taken out,” said the female freshmen softly.
Jiang Mingyue smiled as she shook her head and seemed good-natured. “It’s fine. I will take a look at this book first.”
She paused before she said to the female freshman, “Why don’t you go take out your book and find us a table? I need to take a look at some other stuff. Once I am done, I will come over.”
“Uh huh.” The female freshman nodded before turning to leave.
Jiang Mingyue went to the librarian to find out if anyone else had borrowed the book she needed.
The librarian knew Jiang Mingyue well since she came to the library almost every day and was famous for being a diligent student. He flipped through the records before he said, “No one borrowed it. Some other student must be reading it here.”
Jiang Mingyue nodded politely. “Thank you. In that case, I will wait for the student to put it back.”
“You’re welcome.” The librarian smiled.
Jiang Mingyue did not continue holding up the librarian and quickly went towards the tables with one book in hand.
The female freshman had already found them a table. The moment she saw Jiang Mingyue walking over, she stood up and waved at her.
Huo Yao happened to be sitting right in front of them. Jiang Mingyue raised her head but failed to see Huo Yao sitting there since Huo Yao was reading with her head lowered.
Just as Jiang Mingyue was about to take a seat, she inadvertently glanced at the other side and was stunned when she spotted a familiar face.
She was simply at the library. Did she have to bump into Huo Yao?
Jiang Mingyue narrowed her eyes as she looked at the top of Huo Yao’s head for a few seconds before she saw the book which Huo Yao was reading.
