Qi Hui looked serious. He paused before turning to look at Zhao Lian. “Prof Zhao, you specialize in Genetic Engineering research. Don’t you want us to make a breakthrough in this subject?”
Zhao Lian put down the application form. He rubbed his throbbing forehead before he shook his head firmly.
“Stop thinking about using the funds from Bioinformatics to fund your project. I will never allow it. I will do my best to talk to Prof Liu about it and see if funds can be taken from somewhere else.”
But Qi Hui refused to give in. “The Bioinformatics division has made no contribution. Why should we waste funds on them? Prof Zhao, don’t you think you are being unfair? I suggest that we stop assigning them any funds from now on.”
Zhao Lian knew Qi Hui always had a grudge against the Bioinformatics division, but he did not want to get involved in it. “I don’t want to hear about this. I will not get drawn into your feud.”
Qi Hui could tell Prof Zhao was losing his patience, so he pursed his lips and kept quiet. He picked up the application form and said, “In that case, I will ask Prof Liu about it.”
Zhao Lian glanced at him and sighed. “We are all from the Biology faculty, so don’t take it too far.”
Qi Hui did not want to hear this, so he acknowledged Zhao Lian patronizingly before he said, “See you.”
He turned to leave but paused a few steps later before he turned and said, “Oh yes. Prof Zhao, there is something I need to tell you. The top Arts scholar for the year decided to take Bioinformatics.”
Zhao Lian was stunned. “Did she choose Bioinformatics?”
Qi Hui’s eyes glinted before he nodded and added. “Uh huh. She decided to take it.”
Zhao Lian was busy doing research, so he did not have time to ask Huo Yao about what major she had selected.
“Although Bioinformatics is unpopular, it would be a great fit since she is from the Arts division. If she is interested in any other branches of Biology, she can always take an elective course on it.” Qi Hui pondered before he spoke.
Zhao Lian nodded in agreement. Since Huo Yao had opted for the course, he did not continue probing and simply said, “Okay then. I understand.”
Since Prof Zhao did not react strongly, Qi Hui heaved a sigh of relief.
He could finally stop worrying about letting Huo Yao study Biotechnology.
**
Huo Yao had not applied for a dormitory, so she headed to the school library after leaving the school of Engineering Physics.
She simply needed to present her student ID to enter. Since Tsing University was the number one college in the country, it had a much larger library. The environment was tasteful and conducive for studying and they had a very good collection of books.
Since it was the first day of school, the library was rather empty. Huo Yao took a seat in the corner.
She looked at the study plan Prof Rong had prepared for her and quickly finished reading it.
Huo Yao flipped back to the first page. She finally realized why Prof Rong asked her what she felt about it. The study plan included the course material for almost all the divisions in Engineering Physics.
Students usually only have to choose one subject to major in, but she had to study so many branches of Physics.
Prof Zhao clearly thought that she was superhuman.
Huo Yao sighed to herself.
Fortunately, she had ample brainpower to do this.
Huo Yao raised her head and glanced at the bookshelves. She stood up and headed to the Science and Engineering section to look for something to read.
