Huo Yao headed over to the school of Engineering Physics.
She had just received a text message from Prof Rong telling her to come over to his office.
Wu Yue was waiting for her downstairs at the lift. The moment he saw Huo Yao, he smiled genially. “Hi.”
“Hello, Mr. Wu,” greeted Huo Yao courteously.
Wu Yue nodded. “Prof Rong is waiting for you. Come on. Let me show you the way.”
Wu Yue entered the lift, swiped a card, and the button for the fifth floor automatically lit up. He gave the card to Huo Yao and said calmly, “This is for you. From now on, you can access the fifth floor directly.”
Huo Yao’s eyes landed on the access card which he extended towards her. She was really surprised.
Yi Feiyu had mentioned that there was restricted access to the fifth floor, so none of the students in the Physics department could reach it directly.
Huo Yao paused for two seconds before she took the card and stopped wondering why she was given access.
“What are you taking at the school of Bioengineering?” asked Wu Yue genially.
“Bioinformatics,” said Huo Yao obediently as she held the access card.
Wu Yue instantly frowned and asked inconceivably. “Why that?”
He thought she would have taken Biotechnology or Biological Science… After all, Bioinformatics was on the decline in the Biology field.
Was it not a pure waste of talent?
Huo Yao noticed Wu Yue’s strong reaction. She could not help wondering how bad Bioinformatics was to make everyone react the same way.
The lift chimed when they arrived on the fifth floor.
Since it was a bad time to continue asking, Wu Yue simply walked out of the lift.
Wu Yue told Huo Yao to go right in when they arrived at Prof Rong’s office before he headed to the room next door.

Rong Jun was sorting out documents when he saw Huo Yao come in. He pointed at the couch nearby and gestured for her to take a seat first. After he finished straightening out his paperwork, he walked over to the couch with the papers in his hand.
“I happened to be out for a meeting with the administration when you came to report to the department,” explained Rong Jun after taking a seat.
Huo Yao nodded. “It’s okay.”
Since Rong Jun and Huo Yao had been chatting for almost half a year, they were quite familiar with each other. After chatting briefly, he asked the same question as Wu Yue.
Huo Yao went quiet briefly before she asked rhetorically. “Is Bioinformatics very unpopular?”
Rong Jun paused before he continued. “Well, I wouldn’t call it unpopular. For the last decade, no one in this field has made any notable contributions, so it gradually lost its importance.”
Huo Yao nodded. She roughly knew what he was saying.
Tsing University was the number one university in the country, and had groomed a lot of talent for the country. It had the best funding in the country and the country’s full support. If a subject failed to make any notable contributions and the country stopped focusing on it, it was only natural for it to decline.
Rong Jun looked at Huo Yao. “Why are you asking this? Did you pick this subject?”
“Uh huh.” Huo Yao did not mention she was forcibly placed into Bioinformatics.
Rong Jun felt bad for Huo Yao, but from another perspective, it was an unpopular subject and very few students were capable of seeing it through to the end. That meant Huo Yao might have a chance of majoring in Physics one day.
He cleared his throat as he kept his long-term plans to himself before he said encouragingly, “It’s okay. Every subject has its own value. Since you have picked Bioinformatics, just work hard.”
