Huo Yao stopped chatting with Yi Lianfan and put her phone away. She raised her head to check the rearview mirror.
It was a junction with traffic lights up ahead and the light turned red, so the car had stopped.
Huo Yao looked at the rearview mirror and contemplated for a few seconds before she told the driving instructor, “Can you drop me off the junction up ahead?”
The driving instructor glanced at her and said enthusiastically, “Don’t you want a lift home?”
Huo Yao pursed her lips. “No thanks. I have something to do outside.”
Since this area was not considered inaccessible, the driving instructor nodded. “Fine. Well, be careful.”
Huo Yao acknowledged him before looking out of the car window again.
Before long, the car pulled up and Huo Yao got off.
She stood by the roadside without leaving or flagging a cab. She glanced into the distance with her head tilted as though she was waiting for someone.
Chen Ming saw Huo Yao getting off the car in the distance and automatically slowed down. “Chief Steward, Miss Huo got off the car.”
Huo Changfeng had naturally seen it as well. He went quiet for two seconds before he said, “Drive over and stop.”
If his instincts were right, Miss Huo seemed to be waiting for them.
Huo Changfeng contemplated the thought in his head.
Chen Ming glanced at the chief steward and drove over without probing.
A black car gradually pulled up in front of Huo Yao. A few seconds later, the car doors unlocked with a click.
Huo Changfeng stopped playing with the wooden bead bracelet and put it back on his wrist.
He cleared his throat and suddenly turned to look at Chen Ming and asked seriously. “… Do I look scary?”
Although he happened to encounter Miss Huo in the lift previously, they had yet to officially meet.
Chen Ming paused for a second before he said, “Maybe you can smile a little more.”
Huo Changfeng parted his lips stiffly. “Like this?”
Chen Ming’s face twitched. “… I think you are better off not smiling.”
Since the chief steward had an intimidating demeanour, he looked terrifying when he smiled.
Huo Changfeng went quiet.
He glanced at Chen Ming coldly before undoing his seat belt. He inhaled deeply before he opened the car door and got off.
It was 6:00 pm in the summer and still early, so the sun had yet to set.
The tall lean girl stood languidly where she was with her eyes bright and seemed bereft of any fear.
Huo Yao raised her brow and asked the middle-aged man politely. “Are you Uncle Changfeng?”
Huo Changfeng was always a composed man, but the moment Huo Yao greeted him, he instantly looked excited. “Do… do you know who I am?”
Huo Yao acknowledged gently.
She had previously seen him at the hospital. Since he had the same aura as the so-called accountants who came to see her mother, it was an easy guess.
Huo Changfeng squeezed his hands gently before he pursed his lips and did his utmost to look more genial.
Since he was not much of a talker and he was terribly nervous, he cleared his throat and looked away.
He asked casually. “You must have passed your driving practical test, right?”
Huo Yao raised her brow slightly. She did not ask why he knew about this. “Yes, I passed.”
Huo Changfeng nodded. The passers-by looked at him nervously when they walked by every now and then, perhaps owing to his imposing aura.
He turned sideways and said, “Let’s talk in the car.”
