Huo Jinyan pressed his forehead and stood up to take the phone before going out to talk.
Huo Tingrui heaved a small sigh of relief. He moved his eyes and pulled up a chair to sit down. He took a bun and ate it while remaining deeply preoccupied.
Huo Yao leaned against the table and glanced at Huo Tingrui pensively.
Huo Tingrui and Huo Yao did not talk much while they quietly ate. Moments later, Huo Jinyan came back after talking on the phone. Upon close scrutiny, it was clear that he looked a little different when he came back.
He placed the phone on the table and Huo Tingrui raised his head to ask. “Is he coming?”
“Nope,” answered Huo Jinyan mildly.
The moment Huo Tingrui heard this, he did not continue asking. Instead, he lowered his head to eat.
Huo Jinyan was so affected by the phone call that he lost his appetite and put down his chopsticks altogether.
He glanced at his daughter and sighed in his heart.
They could not pretend that something did not exist simply by not talking about it.
After contemplating briefly, Huo Jinyan said, “Oh yes, Yao. Why don’t you head right over to your third older brother’s place after the exam results are out so that you can check out the city since you have nothing to do during your summer break?”
Although he was going to miss her, he felt uneasy about her staying at home, so he had to send his daughter away.
Huo Yao raised her head and looked at her father. She did not understand why he was suddenly saying this. However, she reckoned that it was because of Uncle Changfeng. She went quiet briefly before she replied. “I am taking my driving test.”
“Erm…” Huo Jinyan was caught by surprise. He had forgotten that she was learning to drive and said, “It’s okay. Just cancel it and apply for it in the capital.”
Huo Yao straightened her back and said with a straight face, “Although we are not poor, we shouldn’t waste money.”
Huo Jinyan went speechless.
Huo Jinyan could not bear for his daughter to leave to begin with, so he did not bring this up again.

The college entrance exam results were due for release the next day at 6:00 pm.
All the students and parents nervously sat in front of their computers and wanted to enter the candidate numbers the moment it was time.
The Huo family was no exception.
Song Ning held her laptop as she waited. Her anxiety gradually increased as it got closer to 6:00 pm. She could not help telling her husband, “This is strange. I wasn’t as anxious when the boys were taking their exams.”
Huo Jinyan clenched his hands slightly and cleared his throat. “I feel fine. I don’t feel that anxious. After all, she is a straight-A student.”
Meanwhile, the time on the computer was now 6:00 pm, so he urged her. “We can check it now.”
Song Ning nodded, entered her daughter’s candidate number and clicked confirm.
Since everyone was busy checking the results, the system was hanging and she had a lot of trouble accessing Huo Yao’s results.
Song Ning refreshed the screen a few times but to no avail.
Huo Jinyan took out his phone. “I will try calling.”
There were a few ways to access the college entrance exam results and calling a hotline was the oldest method available.
However, the phone system was too busy as well. After waiting for several minutes, Huo Jinyan was unable to move on to the next step, so he hung up disappointedly.
Huo Yao was busy taking her practical driving exam while her parents anxiously waited for her college entrance results.
After Huo Yao’s driving test ended, she wanted to get a lift from her driving instructor, but he was also busy checking his child’s college entrance exam results and asked her to give him a minute.
Since she was the last student of the day, it was already 6:00 pm after she was done.
