Goofy was just a puppy, so he was very excited about meeting new people and the assistant was no exception.
Goofy walked up before the assistant and wagged his tail warmly. He stepped on the assistant’s feet with his chubby white paws. The dog seemed completely harmless.
In an instant, the assistant fell in love with the puppy. After he was done observing the dog, he bent over to carry Goofy. “He’s so cute.”
He thought it was a full-grown husky before he opened the door, but it turned out to be just a puppy.
Goofy kept rubbing his head into the assistant’s chest. The assistant touched Goofy’s head as he smiled and the dog closed his eyes, enjoying the stroking. He raised his head to look at his boss in the living room. “Did you just get the dog?”
“Uh huh. Yao gave it to me for my birthday a couple of days ago.” Huo Tingrui watched as Goofy curled up in the assistant’s arms and suddenly felt annoyed.
This stupid dog. How could it get friendly with everyone he saw? Had it no dignity?
The assistant was surprised. “In that case, why are you sending the dog away? Isn’t it a bad idea?”
He recalled how much his boss adored his little sister. How could he send away the dog that she had just given him for his birthday?
“Who says I am giving him away?” Huo Tingrui frowned. “I was simply telling you to raise it somewhere else.”
The assistant’s lips twitched. Was there a difference?
He cleared his throat awkwardly before he said, “Since your dog is still a puppy, you have to rear it yourself. If you send it for lodging at some pet store now, you will have trouble teaching it when it is all grown up.”
He had assumed that his boss was talking about a full-grown dog when he called last night. If the dog was an adult, it was perfectly fine to temporarily lodge it at a pet store, but this dog was simply too young.
The assistant paused before he added. “I think it is better if the dog stays here. Don’t tell me you are afraid of dogs?”
The assistant looked surprised as he spoke.
Huo Tingrui promptly straightened his back and sneered. “Me? Afraid of a dog? Impossible! Why would a full-grown man like me be afraid of a dog? Are you joking?”
The assistant lowered his eyes and looked at Goofy in his arms. If Huo Tingrui wasn’t afraid of dogs, why would he call him in the middle of the night?
“Hmm… since you are not afraid of dogs, do I still have to take the dog away?” asked the assistant moments later as he raised his head.
Huo Tingrui went speechless.
The assistant did not continue probing when Huo Tingrui failed to answer. He placed Goofy on the ground unhurriedly and the dog instantly lunged at his father.
Huo Tingrui tensed up and became annoyed.
How could he say that he was not afraid of dogs? The assistant cleared his throat and veered his eyes for the sake of his rice bowl.
Eventually, the assistant managed to convince Huo Tingrui not to abandon his son. After all, Goofy was given to Huo Tingrui by his almighty Aunt Huo Yao. No matter how scared Huo Tingrui was, he would not dare to send Goofy away.
The father and son quickly embarked on their blissful life together.

Time passed quickly. In the blink of an eye, it was already 7th June.
Since it was time for the college entrance exam, the transport authority made arrangements to prioritize the green traffic lights leading to school zones. There was almost no traffic jam to speak of.
Before Huo Yao left the house, Song Ning took out her pencil case and checked it a few times out of fear that Huo Yao had forgotten something. Song Ning was so anxious that it seemed as though she was the one taking the exam.
Huo Yao did not know whether to cry or to laugh as she told her to calm down.
Huo Tingrui knew that Huo Yao was going for her exams today, so he came over with Goofy.
He kicked his stupid son and said, “Go on and wish Aunt Yao good luck.”
