Huo Xiang looked at the puppy on the ground and said, “Brother Tingrui, why don’t you come up with a name for the dog? Since he is just a puppy, he will take to the name easily.”
Huo Tingrui ignored him and leaned into the couch miserably.
Song Ning came over with the cake and placed it on the table. She said jokingly, “My friend’s poodle is called Doraemon. Why don’t we call it Nobita?”
Huo Xiang’s lips twitched. The name was terrible.
“Nobita sounds really naughty.” Huo Jinyan shook his head. He pondered briefly before he said, “I think we should just call it Laifu or Wangcai.”
Song Ning glanced at her husband. “If all you can come up with are dowdy names, why don’t you keep the suggestions to yourself?”
Huo Jinyan went speechless.
“What about Doudou or Maomao?” Huo Xiang rubbed his chin. He recalled the nicknames which he had seen his fans use as ID in the group chat whenever he checked out their conversations occasionally.
“There are already dogs in our estate going by those names,” said Huo Jinyan after drinking some water.
Huo Xiang took out his phone and said, “Let me try finding some names online.”
“Goofy?” Huo Yao raised her brow and said coolly.
Huo Xiang’s hands paused. He raised his head. “Goofy? Are you saying we should name him Goofy?”
Huo Yao nodded.
“Goofy … I think this name has a nice ring to it,” said Huo Xiang.
Huo Tingrui always acted childishly in the family.
Also, huskies were known to do dumb things just like Huo Tingrui.
This name was ingenious.
Huo Xiang thought for a moment before he nodded. “That’s a really good name. It is really well thought out!”
He leaned over and called the husky lying beside his second older brother’s feet and called out. “Goofy.”
The dog was lying prone on the ground. He raised his head at the sound and looked at Huo Xiang, wagging his tail.
Song Ning laughed. “I think he likes his new name.”
“Goofy Huo is a pretty good name,” said Huo Yanxi after glancing at Huo Yao.
Huo Tingrui could no longer remain calm. “What Goofy? I have a feeling that all of you are mocking me! No way. This name simply won’t do! I will never use it.”
Since Huo Jinyan agreed to everything his daughter said, he set the cup on the coffee table hard with a crisp clang and declared. “It’s settled. Let’s call it Goofy.”
Huo Tingrui was dumbfounded when his feelings were disregarded so thoroughly.
“Uh huh.” Song Ning had no opinion either.
Huo Tingrui adjusted his spectacles before he said anxiously, “Wait. Are you sure this is a good idea? After all, I am…”
Before he finished his sentence, his father glanced at him and he instantly caved in like a coward. “Fine. Goofy it is.”
He was increasingly having no say in the house.
Huo Tingrui lowered his head and glanced at the dog at his feet. Huo Xiang kept calling the dog ‘Goofy’, and the dog kept wagging his tail making Huo Tingrui even more upset.
This dog was no help either!
Huo Tingrui inhaled deeply and made up his mind.
It was out of the question for him to keep a dog. From today onwards, he wasn’t going to stay at the Huo residence. He would only come back when the dog got close to someone in the family and considered them to be his owner.
Huo Tingrui finally felt slightly better after this thought.
Everyone happily celebrated Huo Tingrui’s birthday and cut the cake.
Huo Yao’s phone rang in her pocket, so she put down the plate and pulled out her phone.
