Huo Yao didn’t detect Huo Yulin’s expression as she helped Old Madam Yang up the steps and asked casually. “Why did he come back?”
“He happened to be nearby, so he swung by to visit me,” said Old Madam Yang as she smiled.
She recalled something and sang his praises. “He is a very good person. Ever since I came back, he visited me several times.”
The moment Huo Yao heard what she said, she clearly looked surprised. She had never heard Min Yu mention this before.
Huo Yao nodded and commended him. “Uh huh. He certainly is a nice guy.”
Huo Yulin glanced at Old Madam Yang before he narrowed his eyes. A good guy? They probably had yet to see how ruthless he could get.
“Yu used to live next door, but it is too worn down to live in now, so I invited him to stay here,” added Old Madam Yang.
Huo Yao blinked and took a glance next door when she walked by. It was genuinely too dilapidated for him to stay in.
Old Madam Yang had already walked back into the living room. She retrieved a pair of new men’s indoor slippers and handed it to Huo Yulin. “We live a simple life. I hope you don’t mind.”
Huo Yulin nodded before he said politely, “Of course not. I think it’s great.”
Even though the building itself was genuinely old and there wasn’t any expensive furniture or decoration, it was very clean and tidy. He could tell that Old Madam Yang was an attentive woman.
Old Madam Yang smiled and invited Huo Yulin to take a seat before she glanced at the kitchen behind and said, “Yu is helping to watch the stove. Let me go get him.”
The moment she finished her sentence, she went into the kitchen.
Huo Yao turned to retrieve paper cups from a nearby cabinet and poured two cups of warm water.
She handed one to Huo Yulin. She contemplated for a couple of seconds and said, “Brother Yulin, if you are not comfortable with staying here, I can get you a room in a motel.”
Huo Yulin held his cup without drinking it and looked at his little sister as he said, “Do I look that fussy to you?”
Moreover, if this place was good enough for someone from the Min family, it was good enough for him.
Huo Yao leaned against the wooden couch’s armrest and laughed as she shook her head.
“Does Min Yu know Old Madam Yang very well?” asked Huo Yulin casually.
Huo Yao contemplated before she nodded. “I suppose. Granny likes him a lot.”
After all, Old Madam Yang would rather reach out to Min Yu if she needed anything instead of looking for her. It was clear that her grandmother trusted him a lot.
Huo Yulin’s lips twitched when he heard this.
Min Yu was popular with the elderly and could bribe his parents. Sure enough, he shouldn’t underestimate a scheming man with evil intentions like Min Yu.
“Brother Yulin, have a seat while I carry the luggage upstairs.” Huo Yao finished her cup of water and picked up the bags.
Huo Yulin wanted to help, but Huo Yao turned him down.
Min Yu and Old Madam Yang happened to come out of the kitchen with food right then.
Min Yu raised his head and pursed his lips when he made eye contact with Huo Yulin. He knew why Huo Yulin was looking at him so intimidatingly. He placed the food on the table and smiled politely. “Hi there, Brother Yulin.”
The moment Huo Yulin heard Min Yu calling him brother, he frowned. After some time, he finally acknowledged Min Yu in response.
Old Madam Yang smiled as she glanced at them. She waved to Min Yu and gestured for him to stop working in the kitchen before she walked over to get some bowls and chopsticks.
In an instant, only Min Yu and Huo Yulin were left in the living room.
