Lin Shuwen looked at He Xiaoman annoyingly. He knew what He Xiaoman wanted to talk about, so he halted to turn and looked at her. “Mrs. Lu, I think I already made myself very clear previously.”
He Xiaoman gritted her teeth and said, “I just wanted to know whether you dropped Lu Corporation because of something my foster daughter said?”
Huo Yao was about to leave but halted when she heard her foster mother’s words.
She narrowed her eyes quizzically.
Lin Shuwen pressed his forehead before he looked at Huo Yao and said deeply, “No, that’s not the case.”
He Xiaoman smiled mockingly when she caught on to their silent interaction. Why would he deliberately glance at Huo Yao if she did not have a hand at Lu Corporation’s failure to win the bid of the government project?
Did they think she was stupid?
The more He Xiaoman thought about it, the more resentful she felt. She finally could not help saying angrily, “Everyone says you are incorruptible. From the looks of it now, I hardly think so.”
Since it was impossible for Lu Corporation to win the government project now, she did not bother to hold her tongue back. She had to learn the truth today.
Lin Shuwen’s face looked angry. If only he and He Xiaoman were around, he would not have even bothered to look at her. However, his peer from the Department of Education happened to be present as well. How could he tolerate such humiliation?
“Lu Corporation shouldn’t have signed up for the bid if it wasn’t good enough. Now that you have tried, we have to process it according to the rules. How could you question me about my ethics? Are you crazy?”
He Xiaoman went all out. “Heheh. Are you sure Lu Corporation wasn’t good enough for the bid? Didn’t you prioritize Lu Corporation’s vetting because you thought highly of it?”
“Do you dare to swear that you had no part in ruining Lu Corporation’s chances to win the bid?”
“Do you dare to swear that you didn’t target Lu Corporation because of someone?”
He Xiaoman questioned Lin Shuwen repeatedly. Since she was highly emotional, even her face became flushed. She looked like she had suffered severe injustice.
Lin Shuwen suddenly laughed when he heard He Xiaoman’s accusations towards him. He looked at her mockingly. “I thought I made it pretty clear that Lu Corporation had lost the bid previously. From the looks of it, you did not get the hint.”
He Xiaoman frowned as she looked at him with her eyes burning. “Stop this grandiose talk. You used your power to foil Lu Corporation’s bid. This is really an ethical problem.”
Lin Shuwen shook his head. “I didn’t want to embarrass you publicly and say it out loud. Since you are determined to find out the truth, I don’t mind telling you. Why do you think we decided to fast-track Lu Corporation’s vetting?”
He Xiaoman parted her lips and wanted to speak, but Lin Shuwen interrupted her.
“Do you think that highly of Lu Corporation?” sneered Lin Shuwen before he turned to look at Huo Yao and continued. “If not on account of Miss Huo, we wouldn’t have even heard about the company, let alone prioritize its vetting…”
Huo Yao frowned when she heard this.
He Xiaoman found it unbelievable. “Impossible. You are simply shirking responsibility. I am certain that you deliberately sabotaged Lu Corporation.”
How could he have fast-tracked Lu Corporation’s vetting on account of her foster daughter? Why would he do such a huge favor for her sake?
If Lin Shuwen had done it because he knew someone in the Huo family, it would have been more plausible, but he said he did it for Huo Yao’s sake.
Even if he wanted to find an excuse, he had to come up with something more solid.
