Song Ning was busy arranging things in the yard.
Huo Yulin walked up to the balcony and stood at the railing as he looked down, but did not interrupt her.
The cool winter breeze swept by and left his hair slightly disheveled. He was dressed in simple home wear with his collar slightly open. A faint scar could be seen under his collar. He crossed his arms before going back into his room.
A look of surprise swept across Huo Yulin’s face when he checked the time on his phone.
He had slept from 7:00 am to all the way past 4:00 pm without using any incense or sleeping pills. He managed to sleep for so long solely due to his little sister’s acupuncture.
He had tried acupuncture treatment before, but gave it up since it was useless. From the looks of it, his little sister was very good at acupuncture.
Huo Yulin gathered his thoughts and changed his clothes before he went downstairs.
Song Ning had just taken off her apron when she turned to look at him. “Woke up?”
Huo Yulin nodded before walking over to get himself a cup of warm water. He leaned against the cabinet as he watched his mother tidy up the place and asked her. “Are we expecting guests?”
Song Ning placed some flowers in a vase and said without even looking up, “Uh huh. I invited my friend and her daughter over for dinner.”
Huo Yulin contemplated. Someone’s daughter?
After Song Ning placed the vase in its spot, she turned to point at the kitchen. “Oh yes. I saved some food for you in the kitchen. Your little sister texted me in the afternoon to say you would wake up around this time. I’m surprised that she was spot on.”
Song Ning shook her head in shock as she told him this.
Huo Yulin went into a daze after listening to her.
A strange emotion flooded his heart.
He had lived abroad for years with only cold robots for company, so barely anyone checked on him.
Song Ning did not interrupt when she saw him standing in a daze. Instead, she headed to the kitchen and brought out the food and placed it on the table. “Eat something first. My friend will be here any minute, so I have to brighten up the place and leave a good impression on her daughter.”
Song Ning nagged a little before she left the dining room.
Huo Yulin composed himself and heard his mother talking about leaving a good impression on her friend’s daughter. He was certain now that this was no ordinary dinner.

After school, Huo Jinyan picked up his daughter from school and was in such a good mood that he even hummed in the car.
Huo Yao straightened her jacket as she tilted sideways and looked at her father. “You seem to be in a happy mood.”
Huo Jinyan straightened his back with his hand on the steering wheel as he cleared his throat and said, “The stocks I bought made a little money.”
Huo Yao’s lips curved into a smile. She had a feeling that it was not as little as he made it sound.
He sounded exactly the same when he had claimed that his Rolls Royce, which cost a bomb, was inexpensive.
“We are expecting guests today.” A thought crossed Huo Jinyan’s mind before he told his daughter.
Huo Yao raised her brow. It was the first time that she heard about guests visiting their place. “Are they relatives?”
Huo Jinyan turned to glance at his daughter. “We are introducing a girl to your second older brother.”
Huo Yao coughed.
Previously, they made Huo Tingrui attend a major matchmaking session. This time, they invited the girl to their villa straight away. From the looks of it, there was no escape for her older brother.
“Well, my second older brother isn’t getting any younger, so it’s about time he found himself a match,” said Huo Yao with a straight face.
“I think so too,” agreed Huo Jinyan as he nodded.
After all, he was the most annoying son out of the lot.
Huo Yao turned to look out the window. She suddenly remembered something and turned to ask her father. “How did Brother Yulin get insomnia in the first place?”
