It did not dawn on Yi Lianfan that Huo Yao would actually accept his invitation after turning him down yesterday. After being nonplussed for a second, he said, “Why don’t we head over there straight away since it happens to be lunchtime now?”
“Sure.” Huo Yao nodded.
They bowed to the Principal and the Dean before leaving. The two men finally composed themselves after the students had gone.
“When did Yi Lianfan become so close to Huo Yao?” The Dean touched his chin. “I heard Yi Lianfan refused to admit defeat to Huo Yao and even went to her classroom to challenge her earlier.”
The Dean paused when a thought struck him. “Don’t tell me they’re dating?”
Was it not common for campus competitors to end up dating?
This was unacceptable.
The Principal’s lips twitched when he heard the ridiculous things that the Dean was spouting. His eyes landed on top of the Dean’s head. “Do you know why you’re bald?”
The Dean instinctively touched his shiny bald head and felt indignant.
Why did the Principal suddenly drag his thinning hair into this?
“Yi Lianfan clearly only admires her. It’s admiration, do you understand?” The Principal shook his head angrily before he walked off.
The Principal suddenly paused after walking a long way.
He had a nagging feeling that something had slipped his mind. He narrowed his eyes and contemplated for a while before he gave up and walked out of Tsing University.
**
Tsing University’s canteen looked great and served such good food that it could rival a restaurant.
Huo Yao already felt that the canteen at No.1 Middle School was pretty good. However, she suddenly realized what a frog in the well she had been, as she sat in Tsing University’s canteen.
Yi Lianfan’s cousin was called Yi Feiyu and was a sophomore and a top student in the Physics faculty. He had refreshing good looks. He sported a pair of black spectacles, and had a warm, cheerful personality.
Since he had been paying close attention to the National Quiz Contest, his eyes were filled with admiration for Huo Yao.
After lunch, Yi Feiyu took Huo Yao and his cousin around Tsing University and told them a little about the history of the university.
Tsing University was split into many zones. Since the campus grounds were widely spread out, Yi Feiyu brought them straight to the Research Institute in the Physics faculty.
“Oh yes. Junior Huo Yao, what are you planning to major in?” Yi Feiyu knew that Huo Yao would become a Tsing University undergrad sooner or later, so he called her junior right away.
Huo Yao contemplated before she replied. “Probably Bio, but I’m considering Physics and Chem too.”
Yi Lianfan looked surprised to hear this. She was particularly good at Physics and Chemistry, but she unexpectedly wanted to major in Biology.
Yi Feiyu adjusted his glasses. “Physics is better. You won’t end up dealing with all the dry data analysis that you do in Bio.”
The Physics faculty was pathetically small compared to the other Tsing University facilities, mostly due to their professors’ high standards. However, Yi Feiyu could not help wanting to get someone as talented as Huo Yao to join the Physics faculty.
He could not allow such a pretty junior to slip away.
Yi Feiyu paused and continued before Huo Yao had the chance to reply. “Come on. Let me show you the labs.”
Huo Yao checked the time on her wristwatch before she nodded and followed Yi Feiyu.
The laboratories were located on the third floor of the Research Institute. Yi Feiyu brought them up using the elevator. He swiped his pass at the lift and it opened with a ding.
