1661 This Place Will Be Mine One Day
Mi Tong left without a word ten years ago. He combed through Country M with a fine tooth comb, but to no avail. In the end, he received word that she got killed and had disappeared from the face of the earth.
He could not believe that she would just die, so he kept searching for her and refused to give up.
He found her name appearing in a list of experiment subjects conducted by a local scientific institute. Every single subject in the experiment had perished.
Since it was a major experimental accident, the institute did its utmost to suppress the news. In the process, they destroyed all the subjects’ data. No matter how he dug, he was unable to learn more about the experiment.
All these years, even though he had never given up, he knew inside that Mi Tong was already dead. She had died at the hands of those scientists long ago.
The moment Huo Jinfeng saw the picture, even though he had lost all hope, his heart came back to life.
If the picture was taken over ten years ago, it would not have such high quality.
Huo Jinfeng raised his head and looked at Shangguan Hou. “How did you know Mi Tong?”
Shangguan was a rare family name, but it was true they existed.
Shangguan Hou was a clan traitor, but he would never tell outsiders about the family. He simply said, “Let’s just say we are from the same place.”
Since they came from the same place, they naturally knew each other.
Huo Jinfeng’s breathing softened. He did not ask to confirm if Mi Tong was alive. Instead, he simply asked. “Where does she live now?”
“Pardon me, but I can’t give you the specifics of her address.” Shangguan Hou added unhurriedly. “Shangguan Tong doesn’t want you to find her, and I’m sure she has a good reason to do this.”
Huo Jinfeng did not get annoyed when Shangguan Hou refused to divulge further details about her address. Instead, he felt relieved inside. However, Huo Jinfeng’s face remained serious and it was impossible to see any emotions on it.
He paused for a couple of seconds and said mildly, “Why don’t you give it to me straight and tell me what you want in exchange for this?”
Nothing came for free in this world. Huo Jinfeng naturally felt Fan Shun and Shangguan Hou wanted something from him.
Shangguan Hou glanced at Fan Shun and said, “We mean no harm. We just want to be friends with Mr. Huo.”
“Is that so? Isn’t it nice of you?” Huo Jinfeng suddenly smiled. He raised his hand at the butler. “Go to my tea collection and give our guests my finest tea to sample.”
“Yes, Mr. Huo,” acknowledged the butler. He quickly went downstairs to the store room and came back with two boxes of tea.
Huo Jinfeng watched as the butler handed the tea to the guests. He picked up the teacup by the side and took a sip. “This tea is good. Even though it tastes a little acidic, it has a very fragrant endnote. Just like the ups and downs in life.”
Shangguan Hou frowned slightly. He parted his lips wanting to speak, but Fan Shun glanced at him.
“Thank you for the tea, Mr. Huo. In that case, we won’t hold you up any longer. When you have the time, I will pay you a visit again.” Fan Shun nodded politely.
He naturally knew Huo Jinfeng was sending them away.
Even though Shangguan Hou had more to say, he knew it would be self-defeating to continue staying here.
To begin with, Huo Jinfeng was not the amiable sort of man.
The two of them walked out with the butler.
After they got outside the villa, the butler said a few words out of courtesy before he closed the door and went back.
Shangguan Hou watched from behind as the butler walked off. There was not the slightest warmth in his eyes. No one had ever treated him this way.
“One day, this place will be mine.”
Shangguan Hou laughed coldly.
