1559 Clarified Matters In Person
President Xue got to the conference room before long.
Jie Xi stood up and nodded politely. “Hello, President Xue.”
President Xue waved at Jie Xi and gestured for him to take a seat first. He got straight to the point and asked. “What did you want to talk about?”
Jie Xi straightened himself and retrieved a contract from his briefcase and handed it to President Xue. As the president flipped through the document, Jie Xi explained the situation unhurriedly.
“Since a mistake has happened, it was only right for me to apologize to you in person and explain everything clearly.”
President Xue frowned upon hearing this. He stopped looking at the contract and simply said, “I honestly didn’t know about this.”
Jie Xi smiled and replied. “I know that you’re a busy man, President Xue. It’s normal for these things to slip under the radar.”
President Xue paused and said, “Why don’t I send someone over to clarify the matter?”
“By all means. It would be best if we clarified matters in person.” Jie Xi certainly did not mind speaking to Wei Yong face to face.
President Xue nodded. He took out his phone and called the secretary.
After hanging up the phone, he looked at Jie Xi again. “You mentioned the company has already signed the contract with Tsing University’s research team, right? As I understand, the AL system belonged to the institute. My subordinate already has the patent for it as well. In that case, the students don’t have the rights for commercial use.”
Jie Xi replied. “I don’t know about the AL system, but I think you made a mistake about the patent, President Xue.”
“What do you mean?” President Xue felt puzzled.
“The students have already applied for a patent. When we found out about the patent, we spoke to Tsing University first,” explained Jie Xi unhurriedly.
He was angry with Wei Yong, but he did not lie.
The company wanted to develop fourth-generation smart robots. When they found out about the AL system from the patent office, they did their homework regarding it.
After they were done, they contacted Tsing University via email, but Wei Yong reached out to him to take over the project halfway.
Jie Xi felt that he had made a dumb mistake. Tsing University possessed the patent, so he should not have believed Wei Yong when he mentioned that he could handle it.
In hindsight, the only consequence of Wei Yong’s actions was to make Jie Xi lose his job.
Jie Xi was scared just thinking about it. Fortunately, his boss had given him a second chance.
When President Xue heard what Jie Xi said, he frowned yet again.
This sounded completely different from what he knew.
A few days ago, he ran into Wei Yong who brought up the patent matter. Wei Yong assured him that he would take care of it as soon as possible. President Xue glanced at Jie Xi and felt that there was no reason for him to lie either.
There must be some kind of misunderstanding.
President Xue was a powerful man, so he was not entirely oblivious to the things people did to get ahead.
Someone knocked on the door.
President Xue snapped out of his thoughts and said, “Enter.”
Before long, Wei Yong opened the door and came in. He was unsurprised when he saw Jie Xi sitting in the room.
He had just learned from his secretary that Jie Xi was at the institute.
He could understand if Jie Xi refused to pick up his calls, but he did not understand why Jie Xi suddenly came to the institute to speak to the president.
