“What on earth are you saying?” Wei Yong did not see this kind of behavior coming from her.
He was worried that Mr. Meng might get angry, so he turned to look at Qi Hui and said in annoyance, “Mr. Qi, what is she trying to do? How could she speak like this to Mr. Meng?”
Qi Hui broke out in a cold sweat after Wei Yong reprimanded him. He cursed Huo Yao in his heart repeatedly. He said apologetically, “I’m so sorry. She’s still young and has never met anyone important previously, so she accidentally spoke out of line.”
Liu Qian instantly felt angry. “Mr. Qi, how could you speak ill of her?”
He was stunned by Huo Yao’s words, but he was her teacher. No matter how rude she was, he had to back her up.
Qi Hui glanced at Liu Qian coolly. “Let’s not forget what you are doing here.”
Liu Qian’s face turned stiff. He knew Qi Hui was reminding him about the patent and article as a warning to him. He loosened his hands and looked at Huo Yao worriedly.
Huo Yao caught their interaction. She could tell Qi Hui had something on Liu Qian, so Liu Qian kept compromising and even let the institute steal DO Corporation’s project from them.
J asked her directly. “Do you have a problem with me?”
“You have overestimated yourself,” replied Huo Yao mildly in utter contempt.
Wei Yong touched his forehead in annoyance. He promptly told his assistant, “Drag her out this instant.”
The moment he finished his sentence, he apologized to Mr. Meng anxiously.
The assistant had broken out in cold sweat. He hurriedly walked over to Huo Yao and reached his hand out to grab her by the arm. However, his hand automatically froze in mid-air the moment he made eye contact with her.
He was completely incapable of moving at all.
Wei Yong called his assistant. His assistant finally snapped out of his daze, but he did not dare to touch Huo Yao and simply said softly, “Please come with me.”
Huo Yao remained seated and did not move.
J did not get angry. He looked at Huo Yao and found her tone of voice strangely familiar. He raised his hand to stop Wei Yong as he apologized. He turned to ask Huo Yao perplexedly. “Have we met?”
Huo Yao pursed her lips and mocked him expressionlessly. “You’re blind, so I doubt you can see me.”
The moment she called him blind, J opened his eyes in shock. “Are you…”
Huo Yao did not give J the chance to speak. Instead, she interrupted coldly. “If you want to talk about the system, then you have to prove your worth and capability.”
She stood up and called Liu Qian over before heading out of the conference room without so much as looking at the rest of the people.
A cold imposing aura radiated from her as she walked out of the room.
After snapping out of his shock, Liu Qian felt petrified and quickly left the room as well.
The atmosphere in the conference room felt very awkward after they had left. Wei Yong seethed in fury inside. He had never met someone as blunt as Huo Yao. She should not have done this at an important meeting.
Wei Yong inhaled deeply, suppressed his fury, and looked at Mr. Meng. He nodded slightly and said, “Mr. Meng, I’m really sorry about today. It was our fault. The girl holds a grudge over us due to a minor disagreement, so she spoke out of line. You have my word that we’ll take care of it.”
J was overwhelmed with shock, but the moment he heard what Wei Yong said about handling Huo Yao, a dangerous look shot out of his eyes. “What do you mean by ‘take care of it’? Who are you planning to take care of?”
