1543 Affect Her Future
The next day, shortly after Liu Qian entered the office, Qi Hui came over to look for him.
The sight of Qi Hui made Liu Qian annoyed. He could not even be bothered to be courteous this time. He simply asked expressionlessly. “Yes, Mr. Qi?”
Qi Hui failed to notice Liu Qian’s cool attitude and simply said, “The representative from DO Corporation is seeing Mr. Wei tomorrow morning at 11:00 am. You and your student have to be there as well.”
Liu Qian frowned the moment he heard what he said. “Why do we have to go? She has already sorted out the files and I have sent them to you.”
Liu Qian was already forced to hand over Huo Yao’s preliminary work for the project yesterday and he felt very guilty about it. He did not want to take Huo Yao to the National Research Institute of Science and let her witness the theft of her work.
Liu Qian could sense his head buzzing just thinking about it. Before Qi Hui could speak, Liu Qian said, “I don’t mind going to the institute, but you’re not dragging her into this.”

Liu Qian pursed his lips and said nothing. If Qi Hui did not sabotage the students, the representative from DO Corporation would be visiting the university and not the institute.
“No matter how upset you are, do you really have to sabotage your student’s future? This is a great opportunity for her to gain some experience, right?” explained Qi Hui calmly.
“You’re just making an excuse to use her. You know exactly why I don’t want to take her there,” said Liu Qian sarcastically with an angry look on his face.
Qi Hui did not want to continue arguing with Liu Qian and ruin his mood. “Don’t say I didn’t try. Her academic future is at stake and you should know better.”
The moment he finished his sentence, he turned to leave the office without giving Liu Qian the chance to retort.
Liu Qian watched as his office door closed before he slumped into his seat powerlessly.
He did not have the cheek to tell Huo Yao the truth.
Liu Qian held his phone for some time without texting Huo Yao. During this time, he happened to receive a call from the journal.
After answering the phone, Liu Qian looked both happy and worried. He pondered briefly before he eventually sent Huo Yao a text message.
[We are going to the institute tomorrow.]

Huo Yao had just finished classes for the morning and was on her way to the canteen when she received the text message.
She raised her brow and replied as she walked: [Why are we going there? Aren’t we done with the project with them?]
Liu Qian did not know how to explain the situation. He tapped on his phone screen without replying to Huo Yao for some time.
She had already walked some distance. When she lowered her head to check her phone, she noticed Liu Qian was still composing a text message.
Her lips twitched. Liu Qian certainly seemed like he had a lot to say.
He had been typing all day without sending the message.
Huo Yao pondered briefly before she texted: [You can send me an audio message if you like.]
Liu Qian was having trouble telling her the truth, but he felt tickled when he saw what she said. He finally typed: [It’s not that. I was just having trouble choosing my words.]
