1534 A Multi-Billion Family Business To Take Over
Mo Lin pulled out the chair and sat down. She glanced at the books sitting on the table in front of Lu Xia. She sighed and said, “Hard workers get results. I have never seen a more diligent student than you, so you’re deserving of this success.”
Lu Xia saw Mo Lin looking at her with great reverence. A self-deprecating notion emerged in her mind. It had been a long time since anyone thought highly of her. She had Huo Yao to thank for this.
The moment she thought about Huo Yao, Lu Xia automatically clenched her fists. After some time, she restrained the hatred in her eyes. She chatted briefly with Mo Lin before she made an excuse and left the library.
Shortly after walking out of the library, Lu Xia’s phone rang in her pocket. She took out her phone, checked the caller ID and her face instantly turned slightly pale. She inhaled deeply and composed herself before answering the phone in a completely normal tone.
“Okay. Give me a minute.”
Lu Xia put away her phone. She wanted to head back to the dormitory, but she changed direction and went to the laboratory block instead.
When she got to the laboratory, Qiao En was adjusting the laboratory equipment. She did not even raise her head when Lu Xia got there and simply spoke with her back facing Lu Xia. “How are you feeling?”
Lu Xia bit her lip as she looked at Qiao En from behind and nodded reverently. “I’m good.”
“Fine. Enter the pod and lie down.” Qiao En sat in front of the computer and wasted no time.
Lu Xia looked at the research pod lying behind the glass window. She was already accustomed to this. After putting down her bag, she opened the door and entered the glass room.
She lay down on a small bed in the room. Shortly after she lay down, restrainers automatically secured her arms and legs before the bed slowly moved into the research pod.
Lu Xia quietly looked at the scanning equipment overhead. Before long, she lost consciousness.

Soon after, the school term started.
Huo Yao sent Shangguan Yun to school first thing in the morning. She planned on renting an apartment near the school for him, but he chose to stay at the dormitory on campus.
Huo Yao did not insist. After sending him to school, she said a few words to him and left for Tsing University.
After registering for the new school term at the administrative office, Huo Yao went to Liu Qian’s office.
“I called you over to talk about your paper.” Liu Qian gestured for Huo Yao to sit down on a chair by the side and poured her a glass of warm water.
Huo Yao glanced at Liu Qian before she asked in surprise. “Didn’t it already get accepted? What’s this about?”
“We need to put in the names for the article. I know the four of you did the project together, but you wrote the paper on your own. I wanted to see how you felt about this,” said Liu Qian unhurriedly.
Huo Yao contemplated for a couple of seconds and asked instead. “Dai Jie is graduating soon, so he’s doing his best to beef up his resume. He wants to join the National Academy of Medicine, right?”
Liu Qian looked at Huo Yao and promptly caught her drift. “Do you want to make him the corresponding author for the paper?”
Huo Yao nodded. “Dai Jie is graduating soon, so he needs all the help he can get.”
Liu Qian raised his brow and said, “This is a great opportunity for you. Just think about your future, right?”
Huo Yao smiled. “I don’t need it.”
“What do you mean?” Liu Qian asked quizzically.
Huo Yao picked up the glass and took a sip of water before she said calmly, “I have a multi-billion family business to take over.”
Liu Qian replied speechlessly. “You’ve read one too many web novels. Why can’t you just heed my advice for once?”
Huo Yao went quiet.
