Liu Qian was already preparing the proposal, so he nodded and said, “In that case, I’ll be waiting for an update.”
“Uh huh,” acknowledged Qi Hui. “You may leave. I have to go to the administrative office in a minute.”
“Sure thing. Thanks a lot. I will leave you to it, Mr. Qi.” Liu Qian nodded politely before he turned to leave the office.
Qi Hui stood and looked at the door for over ten seconds. He lowered his head, looked at the paperwork on the table, and tightened his fists.
Liu Qian was moving up the ladder thanks to Huo Yao. If he did not make a mistake about Huo Yao earlier, she would have joined his division.
If Huo Yao had joined his division, he would have done well with his appraisal last year.
Each time Qi Hui thought about her, he felt suffocated. This was the second project offer Liu Qian had received by now, so Qi Hui could not help feeling jealous.
Despite his envy, Qi Hui took out his phone and gave Wei Yong a call.
Before long, the call got through.
Wei Yong said, “Hi there. Perfect timing. I was just about to call you.”
Qi Hui did not bring up the patent release form right away. Instead, he asked. “What’s this about?”
Wei Yong was not at the institute right now. He was just done with a meeting outside. “I wanted to talk about the project we did with the university last year. I have one more release form for you to sign. Are you free tomorrow morning? We can meet somewhere and get it settled.”
Qi Hui did not expect Wei Yong to bring up this additional paperwork. He promptly agreed and said, “Sure thing. You can set the time and place and I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Perfect. I will send you the details via text message later.”
Wei Yong was pleased that Qi Hui acted swiftly. After hanging up the phone, he smiled and was clearly in a good mood.
After hearing back from Wei Yong, Qi Hui shared the news with Liu Qian and promptly told him about his appointment to see Wei Yong regarding the patent release form.

In the afternoon, Huo Yao left the campus after eating lunch with Liu Qian and Zhao Lian.
She took a cab and went straight home.
When she got home, she took out the thumb drive from Liu Qian and plugged it into her laptop. She looked at its contents with complicated emotions running through her heart.
The database was quite similar to the version J had mentioned previously.
Huo Yao went through everything in the thumb drive. After she was done, she sat quietly in front of her laptop and rapped her fingers on the table slowly.
She had to create an AI system that was compatible with the smart systems in question for use in robots. Also, she had to stay within the scope of the existing level of technology of this time and age. It was undoubtedly quite the task.
She decided to seek external help.
