Huo Yao remained composed when she heard the man call her Shangguan Yu. infact, she looked completely unperturbed.
From the moment she found Mi Wei’s tobacco bag beside her feet, she knew someone had learned of her identity.
Even though she knew it was a ruse to lure her out, she followed the cleaning lady.
Her identity could not be kept a secret forever. From the day she stopped being Shangguan Yu, she knew this day would come eventually.
Huo Yao gathered her thoughts and spoke without admitting or denying her identity. “Let me see. You must be Shangguan clan’s traitor, right?”
The man clearly looked irritated when Huo Yao called him a traitor. Before he had the chance to speak, Huo Yao’s voice could be heard again.
“Shangguan Hou?” Huo Yao tilted her head sideways. Even though she spoke in a quizzical tone, she seemed certain of it.
Shangguan Hou did not expect Huo Yao to know his name since they had clearly never interacted before.
Even if they had met before, he was wearing a human skin mask, so it was impossible for anyone to recognize him.
After all, Shangguan Wei was unable to recognize him. This was the reason Shangguan Wei had fallen into his hands.
Shangguan Hou pursed his lips. The young woman used to be the Shangguan clan’s hope. She certainly lived up to their expectations considering her keen observation skills and moves.
Sadly, she had fallen into his hands.
Shangguan Hou laughed coldly inside. He raised his hand and flicked his sleeve nonchalantly and chatted about the past. “The Shangguan clan possesses the most advanced medical knowledge and technology but chose to cut themselves off from the outside world. Don’t you think it’s hilarious? Don’t you think it’s a cowardly decision?”
Shangguan Hou clearly sounded resentful as he spoke.
It made no sense that they had to hide like helpless prey. They had to stay out of sight and were not allowed to reveal their abilities to the public.
The clan kept claiming that their abilities would bring chaos to the world. In his opinion, it was just an excuse to be lazy.
Shangguan Hou inhaled deeply. He looked at Huo Yao and said in a tempting tone, “Don’t you want to show your abilities to the world and make people bow at your feet?”
“Not really.” Huo Yao remained unperturbed. She responded in an airy tone. “Only people with no or inferior abilities keep striving to prove themselves. Sadly, it serves nothing except to prove they’re untalented.”
Shangguan Hou simply shook his head and did not get upset. “I have to say that your lofty attitude will get you into trouble one day.”
“Is that so?” Huo Yao shrugged with the tobacco bag in her hand. She did not waste time talking to Shangguan Hou. “Where is Wei?”
“Do you want to see him? That’s easy enough.” Shangguan Hou raised his hand to check the time. He laughed ambiguously and said, “Don’t worry. You’ll see him soon enough.”
He was checking the time to see how long he had to go before the effects of the drug kicked in.
Huo Yao knew Shangguan Hou did not lure her out to have a heart-to-heart talk with her. She pursed her lips and said nonchalantly, “Do you think you can get me with your drugs a second time?”
He always used scentless, colorless drugs on her, so he had zero creativity. She was starting to feel insulted.
Shangguan Hou was unsurprised by Huo Yao’s reaction. Instead, he replied cockily, “I’ve already succeeded in drugging you once, so it’s only natural that I get you the second time as well.”
