Qin Zheng had tried to steal power at the Apothecaries’ Association when Chairman Wang was ill. Fortunately, Huo Yao managed to save Chairman Wang.
He Shu only took over as chairman thanks to her. She had calmly taken care of everything.
Qin Zheng was arrested for his crimes. She used her close ties to the Min family to make He Shu the new chairman, so no one dared to go against her decision.
Huo Yao was clearly an intelligent young woman, and in his eyes, was the perfect candidate to be chairman.
He Shu sighed inwardly. Sadly, she was not interested in running the association.
Huo Yao picked up her teacup and took a sip of its contents. This was the perfect time to talk to He Shu about getting a raise: [I don’t want to be the chairman. I prefer being the deputy chairman, so there is more room for getting a promotion and a raise.]
He Shu’s lips twitched. He naturally read between the lines and caught her drift.
He laughed softly. Qin Zheng wanted to become chairman and was willing to do anything to get it. Huo Yao did not care about the title and only wanted money. If Qin Zheng learned of this, he wondered how Qin Zheng would feel about this.
Before long, He Shu ended the conversation with Huo Yao and called the finance department immediately.

Meanwhile, at the hotel.
Shangguan Hou had just heard back from his men. He did not expect the young woman to be acquainted with someone from the Min family.
Initially, Fan Shun’s intel only mentioned that she was from the Huo family without mentioning her social circles.
The Huo family was powerful enough as it were, but now the Min family was involved as well. Shangguan Hou touched the human skin mask on his face as he contemplated with a cold look in his eyes.
From the looks of it, it was about time he went to see the young woman in person.
After standing in the living room for half a minute, Shangguan Hou turned and went back into the bedroom. Mi Wei was still fast asleep thanks to the drugs.
Shangguan Hou did not light an incense and make Mi Wei wake up. Instead, he glanced at Mi Wei coolly before he took out his phone and made a call. “We’re going back in a couple of days. Send him to the base when we get back.”
After hanging up the phone, a sinister vibe radiated from Shangguan Hou despite the expressionless human skin mask on his face.
…
After dinner, Huo Yao and Min Yu drove back to the estate.
When Huo Yao got home, she gave Old Madam Yang a call. The phone rang for some time, but no one answered.
Perhaps her grandmother was asleep.
Huo Yao hung up the phone and lowered her eyes to check the time. It was 8:00 pm sharp. Even in the countryside, it was kind of early for bedtime.
Huo Yulin came downstairs holding his laptop while she contemplated. “Can you help me take a look at my program? I’m not sure what went wrong.”
Huo Yao snapped out of her thoughts the moment she heard her third older brother’s voice. She put away her phone and took the laptop from him.
The two of them sat in their living room talking about the program as they revised it. Before long, over an hour had passed.
“Oh yes. I’m planning to go to the countryside to visit my grandmother in a day or so,” said Huo Yao as she stretched her back.
Huo Yulin finally realized that the winter break had already commenced for his little sister as he turned off the laptop. He looked at Huo Yao and answered. “Yes, you should definitely go back and visit her. After all, she must miss your company, living out there on her own.”
“Uh huh,” acknowledged Huo Yao as she nodded. She took out her phone for a second look to confirm that she did not miss any calls from her grandmother.
“Get Uncle Ming to come along with you,” said Huo Yulin.
Huo Yao did not turn him down. “Okay then. When will you wrap up your work at the academy?”
Around the end of the year, so I might not be able to spend the new year with you,” explained Huo Yulin as he touched Huo Yao’s head.
