Shangguan Hou had just heard back from his men. He did not expect the young woman to be acquainted with someone from the Min family.

After standing in the living room for half a minute, Shangguan Hou turned and went back into the bedroom. Mi Wei was still fast asleep thanks to the drugs.

After dinner, Huo Yao and Min Yu drove back to the estate.
When Huo Yao got home, she gave Old Madam Yang a call. The phone rang for some time, but no one answered.
Perhaps her grandmother was asleep.
Huo Yao hung up the phone and lowered her eyes to check the time. It was 8:00 pm sharp. Even in the countryside, it was kind of early for bedtime.
Huo Yulin came downstairs holding his laptop while she contemplated. “Can you help me take a look at my program? I’m not sure what went wrong.”
Huo Yao snapped out of her thoughts the moment she heard her third older brother’s voice. She put away her phone and took the laptop from him.
The two of them sat in their living room talking about the program as they revised it. Before long, over an hour had passed.
“Oh yes. I’m planning to go to the countryside to visit my grandmother in a day or so,” said Huo Yao as she stretched her back.
Huo Yulin finally realized that the winter break had already commenced for his little sister as he turned off the laptop. He looked at Huo Yao and answered. “Yes, you should definitely go back and visit her. After all, she must miss your company, living out there on her own.”
“Uh huh,” acknowledged Huo Yao as she nodded. She took out her phone for a second look to confirm that she did not miss any calls from her grandmother.
“Get Uncle Ming to come along with you,” said Huo Yulin.
Huo Yao did not turn him down. “Okay then. When will you wrap up your work at the academy?”
Around the end of the year, so I might not be able to spend the new year with you,” explained Huo Yulin as he touched Huo Yao’s head.
