Huo Yao could detect the faint scent of Chinese herbs in the air when she entered the master bedroom. She could not make out the scent completely, but she could tell it came from someone with long-term close contact with Chinese herbs.
Even though the smell was very faint, she could tell the person in the room had only left recently.
Huo Yao contemplated as she walked around the room. When she got to the French windows, she opened them and walked out to the balcony. After taking a look outside, she quickly turned around and went back in.
“Miss Huo, I found a phone in the bathroom.” Chen Ming walked out of the bathroom holding a phone. He tapped on the phone and said, “The phone still works, but it’s password protected and I can’t access it.”
“Huh?” Huo Yao raised her head and glanced at the phone Chen Ming was holding. She narrowed her eyes, took a couple of steps forward, and answered calmly. “Let me take a look.”
Chen Ming handed the phone to her.
Huo Yao took the phone. It was a gold metallic phone without any brand logos. She tapped on the phone and the screen lit up and prompted for a password.
Huo Yao paused briefly before entering a six-digit password. After she was done, the phone got unlocked.
Chen Ming watched as Huo Yao worked on the phone. She managed to unlock the phone after randomly tapping a string of numbers, so he could not help feeling astonished.
He knew she was a hacker, but this was mind-boggling!
She had only just taken the phone from him, but instantly figured out the password!
The more Chen Ming thought about it, the more puzzled he felt. He could not resist asking. “Miss Huo, was that a random guess?”
Huo Yao’s lips twitched. She explained unhurriedly without even raising her head. “It wasn’t a blind guess. I had already hacked into the phone previously and used it to find the location.”
The moment Chen Ming heard what she said, the shock finally dissipated.
Since she was able to hack the phone for the GPS location, it made complete sense for her to know the password.
Chen Ming stopped wondering whether she had made a random guess.
Huo Yao tapped on the phone and opened up an application. Sure enough, she found the email from Qin Zheng’s assistant in the email account.
She swiped through the phone but was unable to find anything useful.
Huo Yao went quiet briefly before she turned off the phone. She raised her head and looked around the room, but knew it was unlikely to find any other clues in there, so she said, “Uncle Ming, let’s go.”
Chen Ming glanced at her and nodded. “Shall I keep an eye on it?”
Huo Yao placed the phone in her pocket. “Don’t bother. I don’t think the person will come back here.”
“Fine then.” Chen Ming did not continue probing.
Before long, the two of them took the lift and went downstairs.
After getting into the car, Huo Yao took out the phone and looked at it as she pondered.
Qin Zheng’s assistant has sent an email, but why did it appear on Mi Wei’s phone?
In theory, Mi Wei probably had no interaction with Qin Zheng. Even if they had any interaction, he would never help someone like Qin Zheng.
The phone was the only thing left behind in the apartment. From the looks of it, someone had deliberately left it behind as a lead.
Huo Yao tapped on the edge of the phone as her mind drifted away in deep thought. She had a lot of questions in her mind.
She paused briefly before she pulled out her phone and sent Shangguan Yun a text message: [Have the elders ever mentioned traitors in the family before?]
