Everyone went into a daze.
Huo Yao had only appeared at the apothecaries’ exam previously, so most of the people present in the room did not know her.
Even though they were unfamiliar with Huo Yao, someone recognized Zhuo Yun and knew he worked for Min Yu.
Zhuo Yun did not say a word the entire time, but he was particularly reverent toward Huo Yao ever since she entered the room.
The person acquainted with Zhuo Yun instantly caught onto this minor detail. When Huo Yao asked them what they felt about He Shu, he promptly stood up without hesitation and said, “I think he’s a suitable candidate.”
The moment he finished his sentence, everyone looked at him in bewilderment. Someone standing beside him reacted in shock. “Why did you say yes?”
The man sat down and answered. “I think she’s friends with the Min family.”
He spoke at a normal pitch, so the people sitting beside him heard him clearly. They promptly opened their eyes wide in astonishment.
The Min family was the most powerful clan in the capital, so they naturally reacted strongly upon hearing the news.
No wonder Huo Yao had the confidence to stride in at the last minute and suggest voting outside the shortlisted candidates. She seemed to have the backing of the Min family.
The moment he brought this up, anyone with brains promptly figured out which side to take.
Before long, people stood up one after another and agreed with her. The domino effect served her well. In a matter of minutes, over half of the people spoke up for He Shu.
In the end, He Shu became a candidate for the position.
He Shu watched as everything unfolded in the conference room. Initially, they were against giving him the job, but the situation swiftly changed. He was at a complete loss and was instinctively against it, but he did not have the chance to turn down the offer.
Also, Chairman Wang was there to physically stop him, so he did not have the opportunity to speak at all.
Huo Yao smiled when she saw everyone’s reaction and felt delighted by the outcome.
She had settled her problems purely by using her ties to Min Yu and suddenly realized why some people liked to live off others.
It was easier than she thought.
Huo Yao did not stay for the entire voting process and simply said to Chairman Wang, “I have to go. We can talk some other time.”
Chairman Wang could tell that she was genuinely busy, so he nodded. “Sure thing. Thanks.”
Huo Yao nodded and walked out of the conference room.
Zhuo Yun nodded and bade farewell to Chairman Wang before following behind Huo Yao.
Everyone watched from behind as they left. The people who defended He Shu could not help feeling delighted that they had made the right choice. The Min family clearly supported He Shu and they had not gone against their wishes.

Meanwhile, Huo Yao took out her phone as she walked out of the association. She called Chen Ming. “Uncle Ming, have you reached the place I sent you yet?”
Chen Ming gestured to his men and said softly, “I’m here. I’m about to enter.”
“Uh huh. Take care.” Huo Yao narrowed her eyes. “I’ll be right over.”
“Yes, Miss Huo.”
After hanging up the phone, Huo Yao put it away. Zhuo Yun heard she was going somewhere, so he asked. “Where are you going, Miss Huo? I can take you there.”
Huo Yao had gotten a ride from Zhuo Yun when she came over, so she did not turn down the offer and gave him the address.
“This place is quite close to the Apothecaries’ Association,” said Zhuo Yun as he opened the car door for Huo Yao. “I think we can reach there in roughly ten minutes.”
“Uh huh.” Huo Yao nodded. She got into the car and put on her seatbelt. After she was done, she took out her phone and changed it to computer mode.
