Chairman Wang raised his head and looked at the people who had cast a blank vote. He paused and said, “Why don’t we let them choose a new chairman?”
“Are you sure? Don’t you think that’s kind of random?” The deputy chairman did not like what he heard. He said tactfully, “They already chose not to vote.”
They could only choose to vote or cast a blank vote. If they changed the rules, the association would become a laughingstock in the Chinese medicine trade after this instance.
No matter what, the association was destined to become a laughingstock thanks to Qin Zheng.
Chairman Wang opened his mouth wanting to speak when a cool voice could suddenly be heard coming from the conference room door. “Voting for the new chairman it’s an important matter. Why wasn’t I informed about it? This doesn’t seem right.”
Everyone instinctively turned to look toward the door.
Huo Yao stood at the door dressed in a black coat. She walked in unhurriedly with a nonchalant look on her face. She nodded to Chairman Wang and greeted him.
Chairman Wang did not expect to see Huo Yao here. He smiled and greeted her back.
Zhuo Yun also nodded to Huo Yao reverently.
“Uh huh,” acknowledged Huo Yao before she turned to look at the deputy chairman. “Am I too late?”
The deputy chairman snapped out of his daze and looked at Huo Yao. He had seen this young woman during the apothecaries’ exam. Everyone knew Chairman Wang had invited her to join the Apothecaries’ Association as an honorary deputy chairman since she was very good at refining pills.
They wondered what she was doing here at a time like this.
The deputy chairman paused briefly before replying politely. “Of course, you’re just in time.”
Huo Yao nodded. She did not stop to ask about the voting situation. Instead, she asked. “Do I have the right to vote?”
The deputy chairman froze briefly before glancing at the rest of them. Since a lot of people were present, he could not say otherwise.
After all, the young woman was also a deputy chairman. Even though she was just an honorary deputy chairman, she had every right to vote. He promptly nodded and replied politely. “Yes, you do.”
“Perfect.” Huo Yao took a pen and a piece of paper from the side. She wrote a name down and handed it to the deputy chairman. “I vote for him.”
The deputy chairman lowered his eyes and looked at the name she had written. He immediately shook his head. “Do you want to vote for He Shu? He wasn’t shortlisted for the position, so you can’t do it.”
He Shu could not believe his ears and looked at Huo Yao in shock. Just as he was about to speak, Chairman Wang elbowed him and gestured for him to shut up.
He Shu went quiet.
“I’m sure everyone knows about He Shu’s apothecary skills, right?” Huo Yao tapped the table gently with her fingers as she spoke unhurriedly.
“I agree that He Shu is a very capable apothecary, but he doesn’t have the right personality for the job.” The deputy chairman was speaking the truth. He Shu was very talented and one of the best apothecaries in the association, but he was ill-suited to become a leader of the association.
“Isn’t his talent a good start? No one is born to lead, right? I’m sure he will learn it over a period of time, no?” asked Huo Yao as she smiled ambiguously.
Zhuo Yun quietly glanced at Huo Yao. He had a feeling that Huo Yao was talking about herself.
The deputy chairman looked at Huo Yao and did not know what to say.
Huo Yao raised her brow. She glanced at the other people and said, “What do the rest of you think about it?”
