The cop came back after making the call and said, “Team B confirms that we have found them.”
The moment Qin Zheng heard what he said, the ominous feeling he had only intensified.
“Okay then. In that case, we’ll just arrest him,” said the main cop with a nod.
Qin Zheng raised his head and looked at the cop. His phone vibrated as it sat on the table. Qin Zheng turned to glance at the caller ID. The moment he saw the name, he lost his cool.
He squeezed his hand nervously. Since the cops were present, he could not answer the phone.
The cop in the lead noticed the look on Qin Zheng’s face, so he glanced at the phone on the table. “Why aren’t you answering the phone? Are you scared?”
Qin Zheng felt restless the moment he saw the number on the phone. When he heard the cop’s remarks, he did his utmost to compose himself. He took the phone and rejected the call. “It’s just a scammer.”
The cop smiled ambiguously and did not try to argue with Qin Zheng. He took out a pair of handcuffs from his pocket and cuffed Qin Zheng. He said to the cops beside him. “Take him back.”
The cops took Qin Zheng out of the conference room without giving him a chance to speak.
He was taken away so quickly that the people in the conference room were unable to wrap their minds around it.
The cop in the lead walked right behind. Before he left, he walked up in front of Zhuo Yun and nodded politely. “All set. We’re taking him back to the station.”
Zhuo Yun nodded courteously. “Thanks.”
The cop smiled and turned to leave.
After the cops had left, the solemn atmosphere in the conference room dissipated. Everyone looked at each other. Even though they did not know anything about the crimes Qin Zheng had committed, it certainly looked very serious.
The meeting was ruined by this episode. The deputy chairman standing beside Chairman Wang went into a daze briefly before he finally snapped out of his thoughts.
He cleared his throat and glanced at Chairman Wang before looking at the other association leaders. For a moment, he did not know what to say.
After all, everyone had voted for Qin Zheng to be the new chairman, but he was just arrested by the police, so it was impossible for him to remain chairman. Thanks to his actions, the association’s reputation was bound to suffer.
The deputy chairman rubbed his brow nervously. Since no one voiced any suggestions, he automatically looked at Chairman Wang hoping he could say something. He asked softly. “Chairman Wang, what should we do now?”
He Shu caught the deputy chairman calling his master ‘Chairman’ and could not help responding in a mocking tone. “Do you only call him chairman when you need his help?”
The deputy chairman was completely embarrassed. Even though he hated He Shu’s sarcasm, he was more worried about the association’s reputation, so he did not have the time to argue with He Shu. He looked at Chairman Wang and asked. “I think we should call off the voting. Can you continue serving as chairman?”
Chairman Wang had gone through a lot recently and had already lost hope. He shook his head and said, “Please continue.”
The deputy chairman was stunned by the answer. He thought he had heard wrongly. “We have already announced the voting results before you got here. How can Qin Zheng remain chairman after the arrest?”
