Qin Zheng finally entered the conference room after telling the assistant what he needed.
The assistant turned to leave. Before he went away, he told the security guards to keep a close eye at the door.

Before long, the meeting commenced in the conference room.
The huge conference room was enough to hold 30 people. Other than some big shots in the Chinese medicine industry, the rest of the people were all leaders in the Apothecaries’ Association.
When Chairman Wang was around, he was the de facto leader. He was well connected and close friends with all the right clans. Also, he was acquainted with many government officials. The association naturally progressed well under his leadership.
Even though Chairman Wang made important contributions to the Apothecaries’ Association, he always did toe the line. This naturally had a negative impact on everyone’s power and wealth. When Qin Zheng questioned Chairman Wang’s abilities and demanded he retire, a lot of people stayed quiet.
They naturally had no objection to voting for a new leader.
Qin Zheng had already spoken to most of the people present and offered them what they wanted to gain their support. In a sense, the result had already been decided. The meeting was really just for show.
Before long, the deputy chairman announced it was time for the voting to commence.
Qin Zheng leaned against the seat backrest and watched as people voted for him. A smug smile emerged on his face.
After the so-called voting was over, the Apothecaries’ Association would be his.
Even if people found out that he had something to do with Min Yu’s relapse, there was nothing Min Yu could do about it.
Qin Zheng gently tapped his fingers on the table and was in a swell mood.
Most of the people were done voting 30 minutes later. A few people did not vote but opted to cast a blank vote so as not to offend anyone.
“Deputy Chairman Qin has 23 votes. From the looks of it, we have our new leader…”
The deputy chairman chairing the meeting was about to announce the results when a commotion could be heard at the door interrupting him.
Everyone turned to look at the entrance in unison.
Qin Zheng frowned and his good mood instantly dissipated.
He Shu walked into the conference room supporting Chairman Wang with Zhuo Yun following behind them.
“Before you select a new leader, shouldn’t you ask me what I think?” Chairman Wang walked over and stood in front of the conference table. Even though his eyes looked old and tired, he still had an imposing aura.
“W-what brings you here, Chairman Wang?” The deputy chairman chairing the meeting was still a little afraid of Chairman Wang, so he could not help stammering.
Chairman Wang raised his hand. He glanced at the people sitting in the conference room as complicated emotions flooded his heart. He felt especially disappointed at those Chinese medicine masters present in the room, whom he used to call his friends.
His days were numbered, but he had one last lesson to learn in life: people could not be trusted.
Chairman Wang could not help feeling self-deprecating.
“Chairman Wang, are you okay?” asked He Shu worriedly. He was supporting Chairman Wang when he felt the chairman’s hand trembling.
Chairman Wang pressed He Shu’s hand and gestured that he was fine.
Qin Zheng stood up from his chair. He looked completely calm as he glanced at the deputy chairman.
The deputy chairman caught Qin Zheng eying him. He thought about all the things Qin Zheng had promised him, so he inhaled deeply and became firm. “Chairman Wang, we have already voted for a new leader. We all know you are growing weak and have trouble keeping up with the workload, so we will select a new chairman.”
