Zhuo Yun nodded and greeted Huo Yao. He looked at Min Yu and said, “Arrangements have been made at the Apothecaries’ Association.”
“Uh huh,” acknowledged Min Yu calmly as he continued typing on his phone. He raised his head and looked at Huo Yao. “What do you want for dinner?”
“Anything works,” replied Huo Yao lazily. She crossed her legs and adjusted her posture.
Min Yu nodded, veered his eyes, and continued sending text messages.
Zhuo Yun cleared his throat and took out the document folder in his hand. “Oh yes. One more thing. I received an anonymous package containing intel about Qin Zheng today.”
When Huo Yao heard what Zhuo Yun said, she raised her head and glanced at the document folder in his hands, and quickly lowered her eyes disinterestedly.
Zhuo Yun handed the document folder to Min Yu and continued. “I always thought that only scientists had to conduct human testing. I didn’t expect Qin Zheng to illegally detain people for human testing as well.”
Huo Yao was playing with the corner of her shirt when she paused and smiled. “Greedy people never feel satiated.”
Zhuo Yun looked at Huo Yao in surprise. Even though her face looked completely normal, he could sense that her voice was unusually cold.
“Despite your tender age, you sound like you have seen a lot.” Min Yu raised his brow and tossed the document folder onto the coffee table. He reached out his hand and squeezed her palm. “Aren’t you tired?”
Huo Yao glanced sideways at Min Yu. She did not pull her hand back or answer him.
When Zhuo Yun saw their interaction, he could not help feeling envious that they were dating.
“Do you know who sent this?” Min Yu turned to glance at Zhuo Yun and asked mildly.
Zhuo Yun’s cheeks twitched awkwardly. “Nope.”
The moment he uttered those words, he could sense disdain coming from his boss.
Zhuo Yun cleared his throat without daring to look at Min Yu. He paused before he looked at Huo Yao. “Oh yes. Miss Huo, I checked on the photo you sent me the other day. I think it might be Shangguan Yu.”
“What photo?” asked Min Yu quizzically as he played with Huo Yao’s hands.
Zhuo Yun retrieved his phone and tapped on the photo. “This guy.”
Min Yu glanced at the photo. The photo was taken from the side and was quite blurry, so it was hard to get a good look at him. “Is he Shangguan Yu?”
“I think probably,” replied Zhuo Yun.
Huo Yao was unsurprised by the outcome of Zhuo Yun’s investigation. “Were you able to find him?”
Zhuo Yun’s subordinate had already reported back to him. He paused for a couple of seconds and said, “We’re not sure if this is the same guy Qin Zheng met recently.”
Qin Zheng again. Huo Yao narrowed her eyes and stopped probing. “Okay.”
Zhuo Yun glanced at Huo Yao. He was unable to figure out what she was thinking, so he hung around briefly before he left the villa.
After he was gone, only Huo Yao and Min Yu remained in the living room.
“Are you still thinking about Shangguan Yu?” asked Min Yu as he touched her fingers, making her snap out of her thoughts.
Each time the name was brought up, Huo Yao seemed uneasy. She straightened her back slightly and shook her head. “Nope.”
