In Deputy Chairman Qin’s opinion, Chairman Wang had probably invited her to join the association knowing that she possessed ancient prescriptions. Maybe, out of convenience, Chairman Wang offered to make Huo Yao an honorary deputy chairman.
The title might have a nice ring to it, but the person was no different than an ordinary apothecary in the association.
An honorary deputy chairman’s authority was worlds apart from the real deal.
Deputy Chairman Qin had just given her the association’s protocol manual along with a contract to be an official deputy chairman at the association, complete with all its perks.
His offer was undoubtedly far better than whatever the chairman had offered her.
Anyone would be tempted to take his offer.
Deputy Chairman Qin was confident that he could get this young woman to work for him.
As Deputy Chairman Qin contemplated, Huo Yao nodded and replied nonchalantly. “In fact, I’m happy to. Why not?”
She could get her hands on an endless supply of Chinese herbs for free. Otherwise, she would have never agreed to become an honorary deputy chairman. If not for the free flow supply of Chinese herbs, she would never have taken up the post, even if they wanted to make her the chairman.
Deputy Chairman Qin was stunned and could not believe his ears.
After some time, he finally calmed down and spoke a little more loudly in disbelief. “Do you know what you’re saying? Did you look at the document closely? I’m offering to make you an official deputy chairman!”
This was unfathomable. Why was she unmoved?
Was she silly?
Huo Yao noticed Deputy Chairman Qin looking at her as though she was an idiot. She pursed her lips and said, “You want my prescriptions. In exchange, you’re giving me the position of deputy chairman. Is this how the association runs its business?”
It was true that the perks were far better than Chairman Wang’s offer, but she had to give him ten ancient prescriptions in return.
Physicians would never divulge even their normal prescriptions. It was a trade practice. Moreover, he was demanding ten ancient prescriptions, no less. She had never seen anyone as shameless as him.
Deputy Chairman Qin looked at Huo Yao. He could instantly tell that she was being sarcastic. He composed himself and said with a straight face, “Trust me. You get to a much higher post if you give up the prescriptions. Trust me. It’s a good deal.”
Huo Yao put on a fake smile. “My bad. What can I say? I don’t care about status and money.”
Deputy Chairman Qin could tell she was patronizing him. His voice became increasingly cold. “Does this mean you aren’t going to consider my offer?”
“Isn’t it obvious?” Huo Yao nodded without the slightest fear in her eyes.
Deputy Chairman Qin narrowed his eyes. “Do you know the consequences of saying no to me?”
Huo Yao looked up. “I don’t care about consequences. I just have one question for you. Aren’t you just a deputy chairman?”
A serious looked emerged on Deputy Chairman Qin’s face. Huo Yao had mentioned he was just a deputy chairman, and had struck him where it hurt.
“Since you’re just the deputy chairman, you have no right to talk to me about policy and contracts,” said Huo Yao.
She was a deputy chairman as well, even if it was just an honorary post.
Deputy Chairman Qin looked at Huo Yao coldly. No one had ever dared to take this tone with him, even Chairman Wang had to speak to him cordially.
Was she cocky because she was friends with the Min family?
After looking at her for some time, Deputy Chairman Qin finally said, “I tried to ask nicely. Even if you don’t like it, you are going to sign the contract.”
