Huo Yao called Lei Xiao after having breakfast the next day. She had made plans to meet up with him at his place and told him to prepare his research data.
Before going over to Lei Xiao’s place, she was going to visit the hospital. She had refined medicine last night and wanted to give it to her third older brother. Also, he was due for some acupuncture therapy.
“You’re recovering well. You can probably get discharged after recuperating for a few days.” After taking his pulse, Huo Yao retrieved the sheepskin roll containing her silver needles from her pocket and told her third older brother to lie flat on the hospital bed.
“Uh huh. The doctor said the same thing when he examined me,” replied Huo Yulin.
Huo Yao raised her brow. She pressed an acupuncture point on his chest holding a long slender silver needle in her hand. “This is probably going to hurt a little.”
The moment she finished her sentence, she applied the acupuncture needle to the acupuncture point with great accuracy.
Huo Yulin clenched his fists tightly and suppressed his voice even though he was in pain. Didn’t she say it would only hurt a little? It was an inaccurate description from his little sister since he was in great pain.
After the initial pain subsided, he could sense energy coursing through the needles into his system. As the energy traveled into his system, it felt a little sore. It was an incredible sensation.
Huo Yao put away the needles 20 minutes later.
As she disinfected her silver needles, she said, “This is the last acupuncture treatment you need. From now on, you just need oral medication.”
Huo Yulin exhaled deeply with sweat oozing from his forehead. As he buttoned his shirt, he said, “Something seems different about your acupuncture technique this time.”
“Uh huh,” acknowledged Huo Yao as she put away her needles without offering an explanation.
She took out some medicated cream from her bag and placed it on the bedside table. You have to apply this cream once morning and night. This will help you heal much faster.”
Even though Yuan Huan was currently the biggest suspect, it would be best if Huo Yulin could recover as soon as possible.
“Okay.” Huo Yulin knew that Huo Yao’s medication was good. Even though she simply mentioned the cream would help him recover more quickly, it was probably better than that.
Huo Yao raised her hand to check the time and got up. “I have an appointment, so I have to go.”
“Uh huh,” acknowledged Huo Yulin without asking for details.
Before long, Huo Yao drove out of the hospital.
…
When she got to Lei Xiao’s place, he had just finished organizing the data she needed, and even brought a sample over.
Even though his private laboratory was not as well equipped, it had all the basic equipment.
“Here is the data you wanted.” Lei Xiao handed the laptop to Huo Yao.
He had already opened the virus structure diagram filled with annotations in English.
“Let me take a look.” Huo Yao narrowed her eyes slightly before she quickly looked at the data.
Lei Xiao did not disturb her. Instead, he placed the virus sample in the airtight glass receptacle under the analyzer.
The analyzer’s arms moved automatically and scanned the virus in the glass receptacle before transferring the data to the Biological computer nearby.
Huo Yao only spent 10 minutes reading the files. When she was done, she placed the laptop on the table. She glanced at the data appearing on the Biological computer as she walked up beside Lei Xiao and said, “Did you ever investigate the synthetic source?”
Lei Xiao adjusted his mask and turned to look at Huo Yao. “Huh? The synthetic source?”
“Uh huh.” Huo Yao nodded. “The virus keeps synthesizing into new viruses indefinitely, so there is probably some reaction at the bacteria level. If you want to figure out the reason it does so, you need to know exactly what kinds of bacteria are in it.”
