Nie Su had been waiting in the villa for over 30 minutes. When she heard someone opening the door, she automatically stood up and headed for the door. “Yu…”
Before she was able to finish her sentence, Nie Su saw Min Yu gesturing at her to stay quiet. She finally noticed a young woman in his arms.
Nie Su was stunned. She came over and looked at Huo Yao’s face and asked softly in concern. “Is she sick?”
Min Yu simply nodded without explaining and proceeded to carry Huo Yao upstairs.
Nie Su followed behind him. She could not help feeling surprised when she saw her son carrying a young woman to his own bedroom.
Min Yu disregarded the look on his mother’s face. After carrying Huo Yao into the room, he cautiously placed her on the bed and covered her with a blanket.
He was very gentle. From the looks of it, he treated her like a treasure and cared about her a lot.
Nie Su had never seen her son like this, and could not help feeling curious about the young woman in his bed.
Min Yu stood by the bedside for some time before he turned and walked up beside Nie Su. He motioned at her to speak outside.
The two of them headed back downstairs.
Min Yu took two bottles of water from the refrigerator. “Mom, what brings you here?”
Nie Su took the water from him. She was still thinking about the young woman in his room upstairs, so she did not answer him right away. Instead, she asked. “Is she okay?”
Min Yu glanced at his mother and sat down on the couch. “She’s fine. It’s just a cold. She’s sleepy because she took some meds.”
“I see.” Nie Su knew most cold medicine had a drowsy effect, so she simply nodded and said, “Take good care of her. People tend to feel more fragile when they’re sick.”
Her? Fragile?
Min Yu acknowledged half-heartedly.
When she was out last night making trouble for someone else, she certainly did not seem to be fragile.
He had secretly followed her out of concern. Otherwise, he might have never learned that she was a sharpshooter.
“Oh yes. Where is she from?” asked Nie Su.
Min Yu raised his brow and said ambiguously, “Didn’t you already investigate her?”
Nie Su went speechless.
She glared at Min Yu annoyingly. She was just trying to make small talk with her son!
Min Yu automatically disregarded the look in his mother’s eyes. He changed the subject and said, “Why did you suddenly come over? Something must have happened, right?”
“You see. Your father hasn’t gotten in touch with us for a long time. I wonder where he has gone,” said Nie Su worriedly.
Min Yu narrowed his eyes on hearing this. He retrieved his phone and said, “I’ll check.”
He promptly called Yang Yi.
“Uh huh,” acknowledged Nie Su. “I’m just worried since he rarely does this.”
Since he was an archaeologist, it was very normal for him to go without any news for a couple of weeks. This time, though, he had not called home in nearly a month.
Min Yu raised his head and looked at Nie Su after hanging up the phone. “Yang Yi’s men don’t have news of him either. I heard he entered a region with no signal a few days ago. I think he should be fine.”
Nie Su heaved a sigh of relief, but she was still a little worried. “No matter what, find him.”
“Uh huh. I’ll make arrangements.” Min Yu lowered his eyes and started sending text messages.
After he was done with it, he raised his head. “Anything else?”
He did not even offer Nie Su a drink, but here he was hinting at her to leave already. Nie Su still wanted to see her future daughter-in-law before leaving.
“If that’s all for me, why don’t you go home?” Min Yu stood up and headed to the second floor even while speaking.
Nie Su had a gentle demeanor, but she nearly exploded. How could he treat his mother this way?
