Huo Yulin had already cut open the glass window on the other building. He pushed the glass and the piece fell off. He swiftly jumped inside the building.
Just as he was about to get inside, this security guard captain pulled the trigger on his gun.
The gunshot could be heard ringing in the air.
When they checked outside the window, no one could be seen anymore.
The captain looked at the broken window as he blew the gun barrel. He veered his eyes and strode toward the lift.
“Notify someone to collect a dead body.”
The captain’s airy voice could be heard throughout the corridor clearly.
*
Chen Ming had already entered the institute from the back door, so he naturally heard the gunshot and was instantly worried.
Someone had opened fire in the institute. This meant Young Master Yulin was in grave danger. Chen Ming attacked yet another security guard as he kept thinking about Huo Yulin’s situation.
Chen Ming’s subordinates had already taken care of the other security guards outside the facility. They quickly came over and looked equally upset.
Chen Ming clenched his fists with a dangerous aura radiating from him. He was about to explode any moment now.
A couple of seconds later, he quickly calmed himself so that he could think properly. He told his subordinates, “Young Master Yulin is a good fighter, so I’m sure he made it. Follow the sound of the gunfire and check out the situation on the other side. Some men should stay here and stand guard. The rest of you will go to the next building with me.”
……
The moment he finished his sentence, he headed towards the next building.
The rest of his men also followed behind him.
The moment Huo Yao heard the gunfire, she instantly stood up and became very worried.
She had not felt this way in a long time. It seemed as though she had lost something very important to her.
After standing quietly for some time, she finally heard someone coughing deeply over the mike. “Which way should I go now?”
Huo Yao froze briefly before she sat down. “Are you okay?”
Huo Yulin sat down in the corner. Since he was dressed in black, it was impossible to detect any other colors on it. He simply replied. “I’ll survive.”
Huo Yao’s fingers trembled before she quickly composed herself and told him the escape plan.
“Got it.” Yulin supported himself using the wall and stood up. When he stood up, he felt a little giddy, so he bit his lower lip as he headed toward the emergency exit.
This building had a different layout from the main building. Since all the security guards were in the main building, this was the best escape route.
For at least five minutes, the place was safe.
Huo Yao looked at the surveillance camera on her laptop. She wanted to tell him about the security guards coming over from the main building when he suddenly spoke.
“I must know you, right?” Huo Yulin had already gotten to the third floor.
Huo Yao told him to walk straight to the emergency exit to avoid running into the other security guards coming out of the lift. The emergency was the closest place he could hide.
Huo Yao went quiet and did not answer Huo Yulin.
Huo Yulin laughed as he said weakly, “No matter who you are, thank you.”
Huo Yao said nothing.
Huo Yulin did not continue harping on the subject. He was starting to slow down and had difficulty breathing. When he got to the second floor, he was nearly unable to walk.
He suddenly heard footsteps coming from downstairs. There were at least five men coming toward him.
Huo Yulin tightened his grip on his surgical knife as he lowered his eyes and smiled sadly.
