Huo Yulin had his hand on the mike. His hand froze briefly upon hearing the unknown voice. He tensed up and said warily, “Who are you?”
The voice sounded mechanical, and it was impossible to figure out whether he was talking to a man or a woman. This person must have used a voice changer to communicate.
Chen Ming would never have done this, so the person speaking to him on the mike was not one of his men.
Huo Yulin instantly looked worried.
“The surveillance system will be cracked in 4 minutes and 50 seconds,” said the cold mechanical voice without answering Huo Yulin’s question.
Huo Yulin continued frowning. He said deeply with a slightly murderous tone, “Who are you? Are you a friend or an enemy?”
Huo Yao disregarded Huo Yulin’s murderous tone. She kept her eyes on the laptop monitor. She was looking at the institute’s surveillance system and everything looked normal for now.
Huo Yao leaned into the seat backrest and replied. “Just call me a nosey parker.”
Huo Yulin narrowed his eyes as he pondered.
Someone had effortlessly hacked into his communication systems. The person was undoubtedly a computer expert. If the person was not on Huo Yulin’s side, the person would have discovered his presence at the institute ages ago and tried to stop him.
Huo Yulin gathered his thoughts. He decided to stop thinking about it and left the emergency door. When he came out, he noticed that the infrared sensors did not move and were unable to detect him.
In the past, the infrared sensors would automatically do facial recognition whenever someone passed them.
Huo Yulin quickly went to the end of the corridor and entered the laboratory. Everything went smoothly. It felt as though the security system in the institute was completely deactivated.
……
Not everyone could access the last laboratory. Huo Yulin retrieved a card from his pocket and tapped it on the electronic lock. After hearing a beep, he slipped a fingerprint sleeve over his finger and pressed it on the electronic lock. The light on the electronic lock turned green and gave him clearance to enter the room.
It took no more than three seconds for the door to open.
Huo Yao raised her brow as she watched him through the surveillance system.
Before long, Huo Yulin entered the laboratory and closed the door behind him.
Since there were no surveillance cameras inside the laboratory, Huo Yao was unable to see what Huo Yulin was doing.
Every second counted at this moment.
Huo Yao looked at the countdown timer on the laptop as she tapped her fingers gently on the computer. He still had three minutes left.
Huo Yulin said over the microphone, “Can you crack into a computer?”
Huo Yao straightened her body and replied. “Sure. You need to turn on the computer so that I can hack into it using its wifi.”
“Okay.”
A program instantly appeared on Huo Yao’s laptop screen and started running. All it took was a second for her to find the computer’s wifi signal.
“This laptop has a very powerful firewall. I need 30 seconds to break it,” said Huo Yao as she typed quickly on the laptop.
Huo Yulin checked the time on his watch. “Okay.”
The moment he finished his sentence, he stopped standing in front of the computer. Instead, he went to the left and stood in front of a huge metal cabinet secured with a lock.
Huo Yulin narrowed his eyes. He gently turned the dial on the lock and tried some numbers, but an exclamation mark appeared on the digital panel indicating that it was the wrong password.
Only two more tries left.
Huo Yulin placed his ear near the dial lock, listening to it intently as he tried again.
Meanwhile, Huo Yao had hacked into the computer.
