Huo Yao closed the box, raised her head, and looked at Fu Cheng.
She said, “Did the person who gave you my pills tell you my pills are very difficult to make?”
Fu Cheng looked at Huo Yao coldly without answering.
After Fu Ya had given him the medication, he had studied the pills for a long time, but he was unable to replicate them, no matter how hard he tried.
Since he did not succeed, he decided to cheat during the Apothecaries’ exam and submitted the medicinal pills as his work.
Huo Yao smiled and said patiently, “How about this? You don’t have to refine the pills. Why don’t you write the prescription to prove that the work is yours?”
Fu Cheng did not let his guard down when Huo Yao suggested that he write the prescription instead. He simply scoffed and said, “Are you joking? How could I write the prescription? What if you stole my prescription?”
Prescriptions meant everything to apothecaries, so no apothecary would share them openly.
“Are you scared? Or do you not know the prescription at all?” Huo Yao paused briefly before she smiled. “How about this? I will write down the prescription.”
The prescription was the crux to making the pills. Any apothecary could make the pills as long as they had the real prescription.
Fu Cheng was stunned when Huo Yao offered to write the prescription. He looked at her in disbelief.
Huo Yao paid no attention to Fu Cheng’s expression. She simply looked at Chairman Wang lazily. “I need a pen and paper.”
Chairman Wang did not know Huo Yao’s intentions, and simply gave her what she wanted.
Before long, Huo Yao listed all the herbs needed to make the pills along with each step required for producing the pills. After she was done writing, she put down the pen and handed the prescription to Chairman Wang.
Chairman Wang looked at her lovely handwriting and went into a shock looking at its contents, but he quickly composed himself. His face twitched slightly when he saw the procedure for making the pills. “Is it that easy?”
Huo Yao raised her brow. She had never seen other apothecaries making medicine, so she was not entirely sure. She asked rhetorically. “Is this considered easy?”
Her own method of making the medicine was even more simple. She was worried it was too advanced for the apothecaries here, so she used a slightly more long winded method to make it easier to understand.
Chairman Wang looked at Huo Yao quietly. He had a nagging feeling that his concept of refining medicine was worlds apart from Huo Yao’s techniques.
Chairman Wang sighed. He took the paper from Huo Yao and raised his head. Just when he was about to call upon someone to make the pills, he could see his disciple walking over.
“May I try?” He Shu stood in front of Chairman Wang. His disheveled face was filled with curiosity.
Chairman Wang’s lips twitched. He did not give He Shu the prescription right away. “Look at how exhausted you are. Are you sure you can do it?”
He Shu nodded. “Yes, I can do it. Since we want to find out whether Fu Cheng made those pills, I am the perfect candidate to make the pills.”
Chairman Wang pondered before he agreed. He proceeded to give He Shu the prescription.
He Shu took the prescription and took a quick look at it. He reacted the same way as Chairman Wang. He could not help raising his head to glance at Huo Yao and smiled at her.
Huo Yao said, “If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.”
He Shu went quiet.
He Shu left quietly and went about making the medicine.
Chairman Wang took the opportunity to introduce He Shu to Huo Yao. “That’s my disciple He Shu… the same guy I gave your phone number to.”
The moment he finished his sentence, he picked up He Shu’s work in the Apothecaries’ exam and handed it to Huo Yao.
Huo Yao took the pills and checked them out. She raised her brow and remarked. “Not bad.”
Chairman Wang smiled. “He is just a little stubborn.”
“I think that’s fine,” remarked Huo Yao calmly. She turned to take a seat beside Min Yu.
