Huo Yao leaned against the seat after eating some food. She was pressing her forehead and looked a little tired.
Huo Tingrui’s assistant had already returned to the hotel, so only Huo Yulin and Huo Yao were still in the hospital ward. Huo Yulin had gone out to make a call. When he came back he saw Huo Yao looking like this and became worried.
There were two beds on the hospital ward, so the adjacent bed was empty.
Huo Yulin walked over, woke up Huo Yao, and told her to rest on the empty bed.
After she had fallen asleep, Huo Yulin opened the door and stepped out of the room.
He took the lift to the ground floor where the parking lot was located. The moment Chen Ming saw Huo Yulin walk over, he got out of the car. “Hi, Young Master Yulin.”
Huo Yulin looked at Chen Ming expressionlessly. “Do you know who did it?”
“Yes, we did, but we were too late.” Chen Ming sounded puzzled when he said this.
Huo Yulin was touching his thumb. His hand paused the moment he heard this. “What do you mean?”
“He was taken away by government officials,” said Chen Ming in a deep voice.
He felt annoyed just thinking about how Li Zhensheng was pulled away by the police on his watch.
Darn it. What was the point of throwing him in jail?
Huo Yulin narrowed his eyes. “Really?”
“Li Zhensheng has always been a proud man, thanks to his connections. Since he has offended a lot of people, someone might be out to get him,” explained Chen Ming.
Huo Yulin glanced at Chen Ming mildly. “There is no such thing as a coincidence.”
Chen Ming scratched his hair. “Shall we break him out of prison and send him back after we are done with him?”
Huo Yulin went speechless.
Chen Ming cleared his throat. He smiled sheepishly before he hurriedly said, “I was just kidding. I know we are law-abiding citizens.”
Huo Yulin shook his head. “Enough. Go home and get some rest. Thanks for today.”
Chen Ming lowered his head. Miss Huo had done all the heavy lifting today, so he was not much help.
“In that case, I’ll go back first, Young Master Yulin.” Chen Ming did not explain further. He simply bowed and got into the car.
Huo Yulin watched as he drove off before heading back into the hospital.
**
The next day.
Huo Yao went home to wash up and change her clothes before coming back to the hospital.
Huo Tingrui had already woken up.
After checking his pulse, Huo Yao sat down on a chair by the window and typed on her phone.
Huo Tingrui glanced at Huo Yao cautiously. Ever since she came to the hospital, she had not said a word. He inexplicably felt worried. In the end, he could not resist saying. “Yao, don’t you have school today?”
Huo Yao raised her eyes slightly and shot him a questioning look.
Didn’t he know why she was here and not at school?
In an instant, Huo Tingrui knew what she was driving at, so he quietly shrank his neck.
He was genuinely losing status as her older brother.
Huo Tingrui cleared his throat. He squirmed a little, leaned against the headboard, and asked. “How did I escape?”
He vaguely recalled his captors injecting him with something after catching him. After the injection, he could not remember anything.
“I don’t know.” Huo Yao calmly denied any involvement in his escape.
Chen Ming was outside the door on his way in. The moment he heard what she said, he quietly pulled his leg back.
Fortunately, he did not tell Young Master Yulin the details.
“Okaaaaay!” Huo Tingrui dragged his last syllable particularly long when he felt no love from his little sister.
Huo Yao finally raised her head to look at him and said, “Brother Tingrui.”
Huo Tingrui inexplicably straightened his back. “Yes?”
Huo Yao pressed her forehead. “…Rest well.”
“Sure thing.” Huo Tingrui smiled. He pulled the blanket at his chest and laid back down in bed.
Huo Yao saw Chen Ming standing at the door and walked out of the hospital ward.
