Huo Yao narrowed her eyes slightly and replied in a mild tone. “Nope.”
Even though she did not specialize in the subject, she was able to do it expertly. Her mind undoubtedly had a lot of potential. A thought crossed Yuan Huan’s mind swiftly. He put down the mouse and stood up . He said without harping on his previous question, “Your calculations are correct. They are perfect.”
Huo Yao acknowledged softly and seemed unsurprised by the outcome.
“When do you plan on working on the next phase?” asked Yuan Huan.
Huo Yao rubbed her temples before she answered. “I don’t know yet. I will start once I make any headway.”
Yuan Huan glanced at her. “Take your time. You can text me if you encounter any bottlenecks.”
Huo Yao nodded patronizingly. Her headache was starting to feel worse, so she stood up and told him that she was going to the bathroom before she left the laboratory.
By the time she got back to the laboratory, Yuan Huan was already nowhere to be seen. Huo Yao stood at the door without entering the room as she asked Wang Jing standing nearby. “Where is Yuan Heng?”
After Wang Jing wrote some code in English on the computer, she raised her head. She overlooked Huo Yao mentioning Yuan Heng’s name without any salutation. “Uh huh. He answered a call and had to go.”
Huo Yao nodded and leaned against the door lazily.
Wang Jing asked her quizzically. “Why aren’t you coming inside?”
Huo Yao raised her head and stared at the ceiling. “This way, I might feel more inspired.”
Wang Jing’s lips twitched. She was still working on the first phase and did not have time to fool around with Huo Yao, so she simply waved her hand. “Fine. Take your time.”
Huo Yao hummed softly in response.
When the annoying smell in the laboratory cleared up a little, Huo Yao finally entered the room. She pulled out her chair and sat back down in front of the computer.
Dai Jie was sitting there thinking about the data analysis which he was helping out with. His spirits were a little low when he arrived. After Yuan Huan left the room, he got a little distracted thinking about the matter.
Dai Jie was leaning into his seat in deep thought when he suddenly straightened his back and pushed Tang Jun by the shoulder. “I have a question about genetics.”
“Hmmm?” Tang Jun raised his head and looked at Dai Jie. “What about it?”
It was unethical for Dai Jie to divulge details about Jiang Mingyue’s experiment, so he scratched his head before he lowered his voice and asked. “I wanted to ask about deciphering the genetic code. Do you know anything about it?”
Huo Yao had an exceptionally keen hearing whenever she bothered paying attention. She raised her brow and glanced in Dai Jie’s direction.
Tang Jun shook his head and said, “I read about it previously, but I didn’t study it in detail. I just wasn’t interested.”
Dai Jie sighed softly with his shoulders slumped.
“Why are you asking? Do you plan on doing research on it?” Tang Jun felt puzzled.
Dai Jie turned his attention to the computer once more and shook his head. “That’s not it. I was just asking.”
Tang Jun did not continue probing. He paused before he said, “You can ask Mr. Liu. He ought to know about it.”
Dai Jie contemplated before he nodded. “That’s true. I will ask him later.”
“Uh huh.” Tang Jun acknowledged.
Everyone packed up and left slightly after 5:00 pm.
Since Dai Jie wanted to see Liu Qian, he followed Liu Qian to the office where he asked about deciphering the genetic code.
Liu Qian locked up his documents before he turned and looked at Dai Jie quizzically. “Why are you suddenly asking this?”
