Qin Feng did not mind too much about these people’s intent of leaving him behind now. He took a look at Jiang Haolin, who returned his look with a bitter smile, as they walked through the silver-light door.
As they emerged from the door to the other side, the ability users quickly flocked around Qin Feng joyfully, completely ignoring their own general.
“Thank goodness we have General Qin coming to our rescue!”
“Damn, I didn’t think General Qin had parallel trained so much!”
“And thank you too, Deputy Governor Bai!”
They were rather thankful to Qin Feng and Bai Li—thanks to this couple, they got to live to fight another day.
Nodding his head, Qin Feng raised his hand and activated his consciousness to summon his water ability to wash the beast king’s blood off him. Now that they were out of the spatial overlap zone, abilities and powers were functioning like normal again.
Bai Li, on the other hand, was surrounded by a celebrating crowd. After all, her power to pierce through the spatial overlap fog was quite astounding to watch.
“Is there any way for us to solve this spatial overlap crisis?” Qin Feng approached Bai Li calmly.
From what Qin Feng knew from his memory from before he was reborn, the problem with the Fettering Land was not solved for another ten years. Still, despite its continuous expansion, the Fettering Land had never grown out too much. So, at least for the moment, there was no need to worry that it would consume the Earth’s dimension.
Bai Li shook her head. “The two dimensions are overlapping too tightly right now. It is almost like there’s a lock! It would be really difficult to separate them. Especially when we’re on the ‘weaker’ side. And the whole city has entirely fallen to that side too!”
Qin Feng nodded. “Then, you should stay here. The situation on the other side is so eerie and weird. We could not use abilities and consciousness in there. Even if you can manipulate dimensions and space, you might not be able to escape from it.”
Bai Li’s face turned grim upon hearing this. This little fox had never encountered a problem that she could not solve with her spatial powers before.
“Indeed, there’s always some dimensions that are free of the usual rules of the universe. In my inherited memories, I recall that there’s a place like this. Some call it the Fettered Realm. In this kind of world, I can open up a passage into it on the outside; but I am powerless inside it, making it impossible to open the same passage on the inside.”
After pausing momentarily, Bai Li continued on, “If I’ve reached to the level of a Dimension Regulator, I could then use my spatial powers to dispel this other dimension away.”
Qin Feng could not help but to associate a “Dimension Regulator” to an SSS-tier ability user upon hearing it. And an SSS-tier being was mostly a theory, a myth. He had never even heard of the actual existence of such a being on this planet.
“Okay, I got it. Let’s just put the means of solving the phenomenon aside and start gathering up supplies. We need sturdy, metal weapons. Perhaps some low-level guns too… Oh, we need food, water and old-world vehicles—you know, the ones that don’t hover.” Qin Feng quickly came up with a plan.
High leveled and powered guns relied on runes.
The hovercrafts and hovertanks relied on wind runes.
If one were to bring these two into the spatial overlap zones, they were as good as broken steel.
As such, it would be better for him to bring the old-world weapons to the other side.
The others, upon hearing this, realized that the most important thing they ought to be doing right now was to head back to Chongluo City to rescue the people in there.
“Right! We’re getting them right away!”
“I’ll deliver them here as quickly as I can!”
“Call up the colonies’ logistics, now!”
They could gather these items from the colonies around Chongluo City. And due to it being the orders of two B-tiers, no one dared to slack off in delivering the goods and vehicles.
However, they were then faced with another problem—they had so many cars but no abled body to use them! Qin Feng was just one person. And when he entered the Fettering Land, he could not use his consciousness to control this many cars. Unless he tied all of them with a rope, Qin Feng could not bring them into the city. And even if he did that, when he was attacked by ultra beasts, these defenseless cars would be destroyed within a second!
A few seconds later, two C-tier ancient warriors stood up and volunteered.
“General Qin, I have parallel trained for several years before. I believe I could be of some help to you.”
“Yeah, we could definitely be useful there compared to these other schmucks!”
If it were not for Bai Li’s abilities to force open an exit on the spatial overlap fog, these two ancient warriors would not be so brave in volunteering themselves.
Right now, their task was to rescue civilians, not to slaughter any ultra beasts that stood in their way. With Bai Li capable of providing an escape and Qin Feng being there to lead, there was nothing to be scared of.
Besides, this was a golden opportunity to rank up in the alliance! It was quite difficult for parallel trained ancient warriors to earn their name in this world—their internal energies were not strong and they had no conscious energies. When facing against ultra beasts, all they could rely on was their own enhanced physique.
What would take a few seconds to end an ultra beast would take them an hour to do so.
However, right now the other ability users were rendered powerless due to the spatial overlap phenomenon. Suddenly, they were the only ones with the best hope to take on anything dangerous in there.
As such, this was their opportunity to make a name for themselves.
Qin Feng took a brief look at these two before nodding.
The others, due to Qin Feng and Bai Li being on their side, too were able to calm down and figure out a solution to their current predicament.
“Ah, of course! We should recruit other parallel-trained ancient warriors too! We need to get the ones who are at least at D-tier. The stronger the better!”
“Indeed!”
“General, I’ll go get help from other cities!”
“I’ll head to the colonies in that direction!”
“Don’t forget to send messages to the HQ! And to the ability users’ halls too!”
Everyone started to get busy in preparing for what was to come.
Jiang Haolin, who had taken enough breather, approached Qin Feng, “General Qin, may I have a word?”
Qin Feng nodded and followed Jiang Haolin to the side. The latter then activated his consciousness to shield both of them in a conscious barrier. They were the only B-tiers in the area, so the others could not hear what their conversation was.
“There are still seven B-tiers in Chongluo City. There should be three of them in their offices. In the ability user hall, there is one stationed there too. As for the rest, they should be at their homes.”
Jiang Haolin then detailed all their locations before stuttering in embarrassment, “And… erm… I hope… I hope you could… perhaps… save my wife too… she’s in the villa area…”
Qin Feng looked at him thoughtfully. This man was only thinking about saving his wife now, huh? Why did he not go back to get her when he was near the city?
Qin Feng shrugged. “Sure. Still, there’s no promises. She could be facing danger as we speak, you know.”
Jiang Haolin’s face was as pale as a sheet, “I understand, General Qin. She’s merely a D-tier… so it’s quite possible that she’s dead by now… but we practically grew up together. We’ve been together for about 40 years now. If the city’s gate was not sealed off by some weird, gigantic plants when I was patrolling outside… and my men wanted to retreat to safety… I would have gone back for her.”
Jiang Haolin was rather powerless as an ability user inside the influence of the spatial overlap. So, with his men, who were still capable of fighting, other than retreating, there was very little he could do. Right now, he regretted not heeding his own will and heading back to save his family.
“It’s alright, General. I understand. I’ll do whatever I can.”
Qin Feng nodded and comforted Jiang Haolin.
Then, Jiang Haolin added,” And…! If you’re interested, we have a warehouse within the city, General Qin!”
This warehouse was the same as the other cities’—they contained treasures that the city’s defenses had accumulated over the years. Of course, they did not have anything that was too fancy and overpowered. However, there were still a whole lot of treasures in it.
It was impossible to bring them all out now. Still, he could still give them to Qin Feng as a form of gratitude.
