The wind and the snow blurred her vision. Ruan Qiuqiu raised the hand holding the bone knife and wiped the snowflakes off her eyelashes. She took two steps forward and leaned over.
As the scope of torch’s light gradually encompassed Mr. Gray Wolf, she was able to more clearly see him under the flickering light.
He was sitting by the pine tree’s roots and leaning against the trunk. He was covered in snow.
She leaned closer, and the heat from the torch melted the frost on his long eyelashes. The melted ice dripped down from the corners of his eyes.
On the way down, the clean water touched several facial wounds that had been inflicted by acidic fluid. By the time the water fell to the ground, it had mixed in with dirty blood. The water had also revealed the dense black spots on his face that had been hidden by the snow.
One of Mr. Gray Wolf’s fluffy ears, which were drooping, had an ugly bald spot at the tip. It was probably caused by the same acidic fluid that had injured his face.
Was he being stupid? Why was he maintaining his human form in such a heavy snowfall?
Mr. Gray Wolf was clutching a sharp claw-like thing in his hand. His hands had turned red from cold. Ruan Qiuqiu immediately recognized what that thing was. It was the sharpest part of the fiend’s tail that she had seen earlier.
Thinking of that hideous and terrifying fiend, there was nothing left for Ruan Qiuqiu to be confused about.
This stupid wolf, he had run so far away to draw that fiend away from her.
“…” Ruan Qiuqiu opened her mouth to call out to him, but the word was stuck in her throat. She couldn’t utter a single syllable.
Her chest felt tight, and there was ringing in her ears.
Ruan Qiuqiu knelt down in the snow and put down the bone knife and the black animal skin clothing. She slowly raised her hand to check if Mr. Gray Wolf was breathing.
She felt a shallow, warm, and weak breathing. It felt like a warm dandelion seed in spring was gently sweeping over her finger.
Ruan Qiuqiu checked his breath several times. She kept worrying that she was hallucinating.
Her cheeks felt hot. She couldn’t care about the archaic rule of no direct contact between men and women. She raised her right hand to move the torch further away and awkwardly placed her head on Mr. Gray Wolf’s chest.
There were faint heartbeats. Those slow heartbeats meant that he was still alive.
Ruan Qiuqiu couldn’t hold back her tears anymore. She somewhat irritably grabbed Mr. Gray Wolf’s big furry tail and roughly stroked it several times.
This stupid wolf, he was about to become frozen wolf jerky. And yet, he was worried about losing his trophy, so he didn’t change into this wolf form.
Having confirmed that Mr. Food Reserve was alive, Ruan Qiuqiu felt as if the big stone in her heart was finally put down.
She switched the torch to her left hand. Still rattled, her hands were shaky as she picked up the animal skin clothing from the snow to put the clothes on Mr. Gray Wolf.
However, he was covered in snow, and it took a lot of work for Ruan Qiuqiu to put the clothes on him.
When she was putting the clothes on him, Ruan Qiuqiu discovered that Mr. Gray Wolf also had many black spots on his body too. It looked as if those black spots were devouring his life force.
That thought suddenly slipped through her mind, and Ruan Qiuqiu’s heart palpitated,
She forced herself to calm down. She quickly worked on perceiving the spiritual energy and water element in the air and condensed a droplet of healing water. Gently holding Mr. Gray Wolf’s chin, she fed him the water.
After waiting for a few seconds, she saw the obvious effect of the water. The spread of the black spots on his neck had significantly slowed down.
Ruan Qiuqiu pushed herself to condensed three more droplets of water by using up the spiritual energy she had cultivated in her dantian this afternoon. She fed that water to the wolf.
Seeing that the black spots on his body finally stopped spreading, Ruan Qiuqiu sighed in relief.
