Truth was he was very good at reading other humans and demons. He had an idea from how she had started and stopped talking for a few times earlier today.
Young Mr. Gray Wolf touched the fur on her mask softly with the tips of his fingers. His voice sounded like the warm breeze in a summer night. It was stuttering human language mixed in with wolf language.
Piecing together all of it, Ruan Qiuqiu was able to figure out what he was trying to say.
“Is the future wolf very awful?” So awful that she didn’t even want to tell him about it.
Ruan Qiuqiu’s eyelashes fluttered a little. She could tell that young Mr. Grey Wolf was gritting his teeth and trying hard not to sound like he was choking back tears. “No, no…”
He, in the future, had finally gotten what he had wanted the most. No matter how difficult it was, he was no longer alone.
Nevertheless, he was unable to bring himself to say that out loud.
He was already aware that everything in front of him now might not be real.
But a certain big Mr. Grey Wolf, pretending to be young Mr. Grey Wolf, subconsciously refused to think about it.
He knew it. He worried that when he woke up, he would learn that it would be a long, long time till he would meet her.
How he wished that she could be with him from the very beginning.
A couple quick, sobbing noises came in the wind but quickly dissipated.
As though everything that had just happened was but an illusion.
Tears welled up in Ruan Qiuqiu’s eye but she didn’t know what to say to comfort young Mr. Grey Wolf. While she was struggling to find the right words, she felt the dry grass next to her depressed a little.
The wind coming from the outside decreased by a lot all of a sudden.
Ruan Qiuqiu groggily opened up her eyes and almost all of the light in front of her had been blocked by a certain wolf.
He became huge and his clean fur kept a careful distance from her.
Ruan Qiuqiu scooted over toward the edge a little and, reaching out her short arms to hug him and buried her entire body into Yuan Jue’s fur.
His fur was a bit prickly but not too bad. She could tolerate it.
She didn’t know what to say. She only wanted him to feel less sad.
Young Mr. Grey Wolf shuddered and slowly closed his eyes.
The night seemed to be short in his memory world. Ruan Qiuqiu didn’t sleep for very long when the sky was bright outside.
And young Mr. Grey Wolf was no longer next to her.
Ruan Qiuqiu sat up. Looking down at her leg, she tugged at it and noticed that she was able to pull away the animal skin.
Ruan Qiuqiu looked happy. She thought that she would now be able to leave this animal leather behind for young Mr. Grey Wolf. Nevertheless, when she had removed the animal skin, she finally noticed that her legs were already transparent?!
Ruan Qiuqiu reached out to touch her own legs but she couldn’t feel anything.
She had an idea. She grabbed a piece of grass that could not go through her foot yesterday and tested it out, her hands shaking.
The dried grass went through her foot.
A horrible noise came from outside of the cave. Ruan Qiuqiu struggled to put the animal skin back on but when she lowered her head to look for it, the piece of animal skin was already gone.
Ruan Qiuqiu barely had time to cover up her right foot with the dried grass when young Mr. Grey Wolf walked inside the cave with some not to plump looking fruits that didn’t look very tasty.
He had already learned that the future him was awful and that everything now was fake yet he pretended that he had no knowledge of any of these.
Much like yesterday, he shoved all the fruits into her chest.
While he wasn’t paying attention, Ruan Qiuqiu stealthily touched his tail with the part of her that had already disappeared.
Nothing. She couldn’t feel a thing.
