Eternal Pills!
They were a type of legendary pill, and they had not appeared in the Spiritual Realm for many years. It was worth noting that even ordinary alchemists did not know of such wonderful pills.
Nonetheless, top-notch powerhouses in the Spiritual Realm were familiar with them.
This was because they were pills that could only be refined by the Phoenixes.
After reading the ancient books chosen by Gu Jiacheng, Ou Yangming found out that the refining method for Eternal Pills was entirely different from that of normal pills.
Spiritual fires were also required to refine normal pills but most importantly, high-rank alchemy furnaces would be needed; the rank of an alchemy furnace had an inseparable relationship with the grade of pills.
In comparison, alchemists valued high-rank alchemy furnaces more than they did spiritual fires.
Having said that, Eternal Pills were different. A high-rank alchemy furnace would be needed to refine legendary Eternal Pills, but the Phoenixes’ fires were the ones that determined the pills’ qualities.
The Phoenixes were known as an undying race. Even if they were to die of old age, they could still reincarnate, which was unique among all the other races. Therefore, the Phoenixes’ fires also had an indescribable trait, which was the ability to prolong life.
As long as living beings did not have life ranks higher than phoenixes, they could use Eternal Pills.
To find living beings with a higher grade than phoenixes… It was probably 100 times more difficult than refining Eternal Pills.
Ou Yangming looked up at Gu Jiacheng, who was looking back at him eagerly.
He hesitated for a while before he said, “Elder Gu, I can provide the Phoenixes’ Heavenly Phoenix Fire, but we’ll have to cooperate to refine the pill.”
Gu Jiacheng’s eyes lit up right away. He laughed out loud and responded, “Master Ou, don’t worry, I’ll surely cooperate with you well.” He knew Ou Yangming was appointed as the Phoenixes’ messenger by Feng Xiang.
Even so, being a messenger did not mean that the young fellow definitely had the Heavenly Phoenix Fire.
Fortunately, Ou Yangming was known for his smithing art. He was able to refine flying carpets when he was only an Intermediate Spiritualist, hence the old macaque and Gu Jiacheng were more optimistic about him. Now that the young fellow admitted that he could use his Heavenly Phoenix Fire, Gu Jiacheng was so elated that he almost forgot himself.
The man knew better than anyone else his body condition. Being a potent alchemist, he had done all he could to prolong his life, but even he could not delay it much longer anymore.
If not, Ou Yangming could not have noticed the rotten aura from his body.
Gu Jiacheng’s last hope was an Eternal Pill.
Ou Yangming pointed at the books on the table and continued, “According to these books, other than the Heavenly Phoenix Fire, some precious treasures will be needed.”
“Master Ou, don’t worry, I’ve prepared the materials already. The only thing that’s missing is a Phoenix Fire Bamboo, but I’ll need to trouble you for that,” Gu Jiacheng replied to the young fellow without any hesitation.
Ou Yangming noted with a smile, “The Phoenix Fire Bamboo won’t be a problem. As long as I have its seed, I’ll be able to breed it after a month.”
The Phoenix Fire Bamboo was an incredibly unique type of bamboo. Its biggest trait was being able to survive in a Heavenly Phoenix Fire and absorb its life force. Needless to say, phoenixes must be careful when they bred such bamboos, or they might burn the bamboos if they overused their fires.
Gu Jiacheng chuckled and retrieved a small jade bottle from his interspatial bag. “Master Ou, this is a Phoenix Fire Bamboo’s seed. Where do you think will be the most convenient place to plant it?”
Ou Yangming was dumbfounded. “Elder Gu, you should be the one deciding.”
Gu Jiacheng explained with a bitter smile, “I’m experienced with normal plants, but I think it’s best that you decide this time because this is related to the Phoenixes.”
Phoenix Fire Bamboos were almost extinct in the Spiritual Realm. Gu Jiacheng must have paid a huge price to obtain the seed, thus he did not want to handle it carelessly.
All of a sudden, Ou Yangming was moved because he thought of the best place.
“Elder Gu, if you trust me, I know a good place.” He laughed before he continued, “But it’s a secretive place so once the seed is planted, you won’t be able to see it anymore until the bamboo is grown.”
“Haha, Master Ou, you’re kidding me.” Gu Jiacheng shook his head and said, “If we can’t even trust you, who else can we trust?”
Ou Yangming was the Phoenixes’ messenger, after all. This status alone was equivalent to a solemn promise.
The young fellow nodded and accepted the jade bottle, then he expressed in a deep voice, “Elder Gu, without further delay, I’ll set out now. I’ll surely return after a month.”
Gu Jiacheng raised his eyebrows. He immediately understood that the secret place was not in the Beast King Sect.
He was slightly worried, but he cast his worries aside in a flash. “Okay, Master Ou, I’ll be waiting for you here. As soon as your return, we’ll open the furnace and refine the pill.”
It was clear that he yearned for the Eternal Pill more than anyone else.
Ou Yangming responded to him, then he turned and left the library. He flashed and returned to his courtyard in the blink of an eye.
Big Yellow was still lying lazily in the courtyard. Even when Ou Yangming was back, it only stuck out its tongue and waved its paw at him.
The young fellow did not know to cry or to laugh. “Big Yellow, I’m heading out. Do you want to come with me?”
“Where to?” Big Yellow blinked as it asked.
“The secret realm.” Ou Yangming mouthed the words without making any sound.
Nevertheless, Big Yellow understood him right away. It tilted its head and asked after some thought, “How long do you plan to stay there?”
“About a month.”
“I won’t go with you this time then.” Big Yellow stuck out its tongue helplessly.
Ou Yangming was surprised. “Why?”
“I want to practice.” A different look could be seen in Big Yellow’s eyes as it became highly spirited. “Elder Macaque passed me a set of secret techniques. It promised me that as long as I successfully practiced the first half of the set, it’ll pass me the other half of it without any condition. Hehe, so I can’t go out during this period.”
“Good fella, I didn’t think you’d work hard too.” Ou Yangming could not help but laugh.
“I’ve always been hardworking,” Big Yellow uttered proudly as it lifted its head. Despite that, it quickly lowered its head and smiled embarrassedly as the young fellow grinned at it. “Elder Macaque told me that I advanced too fast and have an unstable foundation, so I’ll need to temper myself strictly, I’ll risk being backlashed if I try to advance into a Venerable One in the future.”
Ou Yangming instantly looked stern. Indeed, Big Yellow had advanced faster than normal spirit beasts. It was not because it was exceptionally gifted, but it was due to the Devouring attribute.
As said by Elder Macaque, the big yellow dog’s foundation was unstable because it advanced too fast.
Ou Yangming understood this very well too, but he was assisted by his Heavenly Phoenix Fire and had fathomed a spiritual world, so his body and mind were well-tempered and enhanced. Besides, before Feng Xiang left, it had also helped the young fellow get rid of this future trouble completely.
Big Yellow was not as lucky, but Ou Yangming was relieved because Elder Macaque steeped in.
The young fellow reached out to pat the big yellow dog’s head and commented with a smile, “This is a rare opportunity, so go ahead and cultivate well. Once your foundation becomes stable, let’s compete and see who will become a Venerable One first.”
“Okay.” Big Yellow’s eyes gleamed. “I won’t be inferior to you.”
Other people would be in disbelief if they heard their conversation.
After all, could the Venerable-One boundary be sought by ordinary people? Based on the conversation between Ou Yangming and Big Yellow, it sounded like they could become Venerable Ones as long as they were willing to.
Ou Yangming left the Beast King Sect without a sound after he bid his farewell with Big Yellow.
He knew Yuqi the Venerable One and Elder Macaque would be aware of his departure, but the formidable Venerable Ones would not stop him.
In fact, nobody in the Spiritual Realm had the guts to obstruct or imprison the Phoenixes’ messenger.
After going far from the Beast King Sect, Ou Yangming first confirmed that he was not being followed, then he searched for a remote ravine. The young fellow sat quietly and immersed himself in his sea of consciousness using his mental conception. Inside this territory that only belonged to him, he finally contacted the Wutong Tree.
The enormous tree in the secret realm swayed without warning, causing seemingly substantial lights to turn into strings that moved toward the top.
It was not easy to close or activate a secret realm.
Even for the Wutong Tree, it had to consume plenty of energy and time. However, it was well-prepared this time. Once it received Ou Yangming’s message, it transferred its energy at once and directed it at a certain coordinate.
With that, forceful energy surged in an odd and mysterious frequency in the void.
As the energy kept growing stronger, an intense light was emitted from the cave where Ou Yangming was at.
The light was intense, and it was accompanied by fearsome energy. Ou Yangming knew the energy would not harm him, but he was still quite frightened.
At last, a vague light was formed in front of him, and it slowly stabilized.
It was the secret realm’s entrance. After consuming considerable energy, the Wutong Tree finally fixed it here.
Ou Yangming flashed and went inside discreetly.
That said, neither he nor the Wutong Tree in the secret realm noticed something.
Not far away from Ou Yangming, 2 powerhouses were watching him carefully. In particular, they had indescribable expressions on their faces after they saw the secret realm’s entrance, which the young fellow entered.
