On his way back to the Dragon Phoenix City, Xiang Shaoyun called out to the wolf guard. He was aware that the wolf guard was probably still protecting him from the dark. Sure enough, the wolf guard appeared the moment he called.
“Lord wolf guard, I am planning to leave the Dragon Phoenix City, so you don’t need to follow me anymore. Thank you for your care all this while,” said Xiang Shaoyun gratefully.
“Fine. I would have left long ago if it wasn’t for the fact that Feng Huosuo and Shadowflash are harboring bad intentions toward you. Then again, it feels good to be able to move around for a bit. I don’t get a lot of chances to travel like this,” said the wolf guard.
“Ok. Please forward my greetings to my master. Tell him I won’t disappoint him. If I have the chance, I will pay him a visit in the future,” said Xiang Shaoyun, filled with gratitude.
“I will. Also, I’ll return after you leave the Dragon Phoenix City,” said the wolf guard with a nod.
“Sure. Thank you,” said Xiang Shaoyun as he continued heading toward the Dragon Phoenix City at full speed.
He had to leave as quickly as possible to prevent any mishap from happening. But when he returned to the restaurant where he was supposed to meet Xia Liuhui, he saw a person that he had not seen for a long time. Waves appeared in his heart, but he suppressed his emotions and strode over one step at a time.
But before he could get near, a different person jumped in his way and roared aggressively, “Yooo, look at this heartless kid. You dare show your face here? Do you want this old man to feed you to the dogs?”
The turtle beside Xiang Shaoyun roared unhappily, “Who is this old bastard? Watch your mouth.”
“Little turtle, there is no place for you to speak here. Piss off,” the other person shouted back.
The turtle wanted to say something when he met the other person’s fearsome gaze. He instantly stepped back behind Xiang Shaoyun and thought, Why are there so many experts among the humans? This is too scary.
“How have you been, Old Urchin?” Xiang Shaoyun saluted respectfully.
The person before him was none other than Old Urchin.
“I have been bad. The young lady has been unhappy for the past two years. It is all your fault. Tell me. Are you planning to forget about your promise?” Old Urchin questioned as he pointed at Xiang Shaoyun.
“Old Urchin, it’s better for me to talk with Wan’er about this,” said Xiang Shaoyun. He did not wish to explain himself too much to Old Urchin as things might get messier the more he explained. As the actual parties involved, it was better for the two of them to talk it out.
Along with the passage of time, he was much more indifferent toward the incident back then. His willpower had grown stronger, and it was now time to face and deal with this issue.
When Old Urchin saw how serious Xiang Shaoyun was, he said, “I warn you, make sure to make the young lady happy. Otherwise, I will teach you a lesson even if you’re the holy son-in-law.”
He then let Xiang Shaoyun through. Xia Liuhui walked over in large strides. Tuoba Wan’er and Xia Liuhui had long noticed him.
Xia Liuhui rushed over and said, “Boss, have a good chat with sister-in-law. I’ll go to the washroom.”
He then ran away. He could feel that he shouldn’t be present right now.
Looking at Xiang Shaoyun, Tuoba Wan’er called out nervously, “H-Holy son-in-law.”
With a complicated look on his face, Xiang Shaoyun asked, “When did you come back?”
As the two did not have the chance to get to know each other better, they had lost their trust for each other due to that certain incident. But time had allowed Xiang Shaoyun to look at the same incident with indifference.
As a responsible person, he would still acknowledge her position as his wife. But if she still couldn’t believe him, then he did not think that they should continue wasting each other’s time. That way, both of them would feel better, and neither would owe the other.
“It has been a while since I returned,” said Tuoba Wan’er as she lowered her head.
She felt that Xiang Shaoyun was still angry with her, and she felt terrible. Back then, she was the one who had decided to leave in a fit of anger, and she was the one who had distrusted him.
She was a Soul Foundation Realm expert, but before Xiang Shaoyun, she was like a meek wife. One could say that she really had a gentle disposition. When Xiang Shaoyun looked at how Tuoba Wan’er was behaving and recalled that she was a holy maiden, a sense of pity rose in his heart. He held her hand and pulled her into his embrace.
Tuoba Wan’er trembled slightly, and her face was instantly flushed red. Doing this in public felt way too embarrassing. Her reaction was not surprising. They were currently in a restaurant with a lot of people around them. It certainly looked rather scandalous for a handsome man and a beautiful woman to be displaying their affection so publicly.
Some of them were envious of Xiang Shaoyun and wanted to start cussing. But when they saw the fellows behind Xiang Shaoyun, they shut their mouths and grumbled inwardly, Damn it! Hug to your heart’s content at home. Why are you doing this here? This is too immoral! You are obviously bullying us for being single!
“Don’t run off randomly in the future, ok?” said Xiang Shaoyun tenderly, completely disregarding the crowd around them.
As a man, he should be generous and let bygones be bygones. If he rejected a fiancee so beautiful, he would only be benefiting a different man in the future. That was not his intention.
“Um,” answered Tuoba Wan’er softly, her heart filled with blissfulness.
The two years of separation had taught her of her true feelings for him. Since he was willing to forgive her, it was time to bury the hatchet.
When Xiang Shaoyun was about to let go of Tuoba Wan’er, a furious shout rang out from outside the restaurant, “Bastard! You dare hug my woman? Let go of her, or you will die a terrible death!”
The shout attracted the attention of everyone in the restaurant. Xiang Shaoyun let go of Tuoba Wan’er and looked outside as well. A stern middle-aged man was glaring at him furiously. From the look in his eyes, he seemed like he wanted nothing but to tear Xiang Shaoyun apart.
When Tuoba Wan’er saw the newcomer, loathing appeared in her eyes. She transmitted to Xiang Shaoyun, “He is Di Luoyang, and he claims to be a member of the Di Clan. He has been pestering me ever since I started traveling to Dragon Phoenix City.”
“Di Luoyang? Looks like destiny will really make enemies meet. You actually dare to harass my wife? You need to die!” said Xiang Shaoyun with a frown.
Right after he said those words, Di Luoyang walked over with his Sovereign presence pressing down upon Xiang Shaoyun and shouted, “Pretty boy, get over here and kowtow to me. Or else—”
Before he could finish his words, the turtle appeared beside him, grabbed his shoulder, and said, “Where does this fly come from? You dare raise your voice before the young master? Get lost!”
He then threw Di Luoyang away. Before Di Luoyang even knew what was happening, he was sent flying outside the restaurant.
