Lu Kang immediately felt as if someone had poured a bucket of cold water onto his head.
“Su,” he said. “You don’t need to jump to conclusions. We can try to know more about each other. I know that you broke up with your ex recently, and that you’re not yet over him. You’ve given so much to that relationship. I understand…”
Yan Su shook her head and said, “I don’t know how long it’ll take me to get over my last relationship. Maybe one year, or two, or even five. I don’t want you to wait for me. Besides, you’re like a brother to me. I don’t have those kinds of feelings for you. I don’t want to waste your time. I just… don’t feel that way for you.”
She understood that she was being a little too straightforward, but she really didn’t want to waste Lu Kang’s time.
Lu Kang was frustrated.
He had some hope after learning that she broke up with her ex-boyfriend.
He was only Nian Junting’s assistant, but he was not one of those people who lived on fixed salaries. He had learned a lot about business from Nian Junting and had some savings too.
He thought Yan Su would give him a chance.
He didn’t care if he was only a tool for her to get over her last relationship.
“That girl we met earlier at the cinema is nice. I think her name is Qiao Xue. She seems to be fond of you…” Yan Su said.
“Do you know her?” Lu Kang was surprised.
“Some time ago, she was asked to pretend to be Mr. Nian’s girlfriend. I met her back then. She’s pure-minded. If it wasn’t for her, Sangsang and Mr. Nian wouldn’t have gotten back together so easily.” Yan Su thought about it. “Cherish what you have.”
“Su…” Lu Kang gave a bitter smile.
“I hope you find a girl and are happy. You are a great, mature, big brother to me…” Before Yan Su could finish, someone knocked on the car window on Lu Kang’s side.
Lu Kang felt a little annoyed. He opened the window and saw Mo Liuxi’s glamorous face.
“Mr. Lu! It’s your car! No wonder I found the plate number so familiar. I guessed that it was you driving Yan Su back from the cinema,” said Mo Liuxi.
“How do you know we were watching a movie?” Lu Kang couldn’t force a smile at the moment, as he was just given the ‘good brother card’.
“She told me.” Mo Liuxi glanced at Yan Su who was in the front seat, then at her hand.
Good. She wasn’t holding hands with Lu Kang, and her lips weren’t red and swollen.
“You two are getting closer and closer. I’m so jealous of you living so close with Su.” Lu Kang felt a little weird. He honestly felt jealous of him though.
“What’s to be jealous of? You’d be tired of her if you had to see her every day,” Mo Liuxi responded blandly.
Yan Su was speechless.
Lu Kang instantly felt delighted. He told himself that he was overthinking. Even his boss wasn’t as sharp-tongued as Mo Liuxi. He assumed that Yan Su would never like him.
“I’m leaving.” Mo Liuxi stood straight, seemingly prepared to leave, but abruptly, he bent over and said to Yan Su, “Aren’t you leaving? I need to talk to you about the movie.”
Yan Su paused briefly, then hurriedly nodded, sighing in relief. “Mr. Lu, I’ll see you then.”
Lu Kang was terribly frustrated. “Are you guys working together on a movie?”
“Yeah.” Yan Su got off the car and walked into the apartment building together with Mo Liuxi.
Lu Kang looked at them walking away. Mo Liuxi was about a foot taller than Yan Su. He was in a white shirt, carrying a few bags. Walking side by side, they looked like a young couple. At that moment, he realized that he looked much older than Yan Su.
