“Aunty Jiang, you can’t say that, can you? It takes two to make a quarrel. You two both did it willingly.”
“I only want you to understand that you can’t blame me for all the bad things that have happened. This is what I’ve become, and I’m living such an unhappy life. I’m really already pathetic enough.” Jiang Qifei wiped her tears and said, “I’m a poor person, I can accept that. But, my daughter has lost her right to be a mother. The Nian family has really hurt me and my daughter. If I had a second chance, I would never listen to Nian Qingyun’s sweet words, nor would I let my daughter be with you.”
Nian Junting picked up his phone and said to it, “Dad, you heard it. You lost your family over such a woman. You really have good taste.
After saying that, he ended the call before Nian Qingyun could respond.
Hearing Nian Junting’s words, Jiang Qifei froze. She stared straight at his phone, lips trembling, without being able to say a word.
“You don’t need to be nervous. What happened between you and my father is in the past,” said Nian Junting, smiling coldly. “Besides, you’ve already married. You’re not thinking about getting back together with my father, are you?”
“Of course not.” Jiang Qifei’s face paled.
She was so angry. Even though she had nothing to do with Nian Qingyun anymore, he was the most handsome and powerful one among all men that she had been with.
She really wanted to marry him.
At last, she chose to marry Liao Qiulong, who was an old man. But she was reluctant. God knew how sick she felt every morning when she woke up to see his big, wrinkled belly. However, he was rich.
But now, she had even lost a man like Liao Qiulong.
She was really despairing.
She couldn’t accept the fact that she was living a worse life than what she had before.
“Aunty Jiang, think about it carefully. Don’t think that you can fool us,” Nian Xi glanced at her watch and said, “Shuangwei will be here soon.”
“How can you tell Shuangwei about this?!” Jiang Qifei panicked. She covered her face, lips quivering. “I can’t let her see me like this.”
Nian Xi frowned and said, “If you really care about your daughter, you shouldn’t do things like this. Last time, Shuangwei saved my grandma. She has just had a promotion. Have you ever thought that if what you did today caused a serious consequence, or if somebody leaked it to the media, you might ruin Shuangwei’s career? You’re over fifty. To be honest, as a mother, you are a failure. You claimed that our family hurt you and your daughter, but in fact, we never hurt you. You hurt yourselves. You are too stubborn and reckless. Before you decide to do something, can’t you think of your daughter?”
“I did. I thought about it, and then I decided that I want Shuangwei to get back together with Junting,” Jiang Qifei murmured.
Nian Junting crossed his arms. He didn’t even want to say a word to that woman.
She was inexcusable.
But still, Nian Xi wasn’t willing to give up.
Five minutes later, Leng Shuangwei knocked on the door and came in. Her hair was short. She was wearing a black t-shirt. Nian Xi and Nian Junting hadn’t seen her in awhile. Her skin had turned darker than before, and a trace of heaviness or depression lined her sharp eyes.
She was stunned when she saw Jiang Qifei.
She couldn’t believe her own eyes, as if it was the first time she had ever seen her mother.
Jiang Qifei lowered her head. She wanted to bury her face in her hair.
Nian Xi signaled for the other police officer in the room to leave, then told Leng Shuangwei what had happened with simple words.
