Mo Liuxi frowned. His mother might not have cared, but he did not want Jiang Peiying to misunderstand. “Mom, don’t get the wrong idea. I told you before that both families will meet after Susu’s concert is over in summer.”
Mo Jin was baffled. “When did you say that to me?”
Jiang Peiying smiled and explained. “He said that to me.”
Mo Jin fell silent.
In other words, was her son’s previous statement not directed at her? Was her son shameless to the extent that he was addressing another woman as Mom?
Was he even still her son?
When had he ever spoken so graciously to her?
At the side, Yan Su blushed as she glanced at Mo Liuxi, and her heart inexplicably went out to Mo Jin. Quickly, she said, “Auntie, I’ve been busy touring the country for the first half of the year, but I’ve wanted very much to visit you too.”
Mo Jin instantly felt much better. Although her son had switched allegiances, Yan Su was still a gentle and thoughtful person. “Susu, Mom has liked you for a long time, since the first time you came to our house. But I felt that my son wasn’t good enough for you. Furthermore, both of you behaved like sworn enemies every time you were together. Thus, I could only keep my thoughts to myself.”
Yan Su and Jiang Peiying were both taken aback by the fact that Mo Jin had referred to herself as “Mom.”
After all, Mo Liuxi had interacted with their family for quite some time and had only started calling Jiang Peiying “Mom” after proposing. His mother had barely been at their doorstep for a minute, and less than three sentences in, she was already acknowledging herself as Yan Su’s mother. That was pretty presumptuous…
They finally understood where Mo Liuxi’s personality came from.
When Mo Jin saw that they were frozen to the spot, she held Yan Su’s hand and added, “Just call me ‘Mom’ in the future. Since Liuxi already calls your mother ‘Mom,’ there’s no need for you to be so formal either. Don’t you agree, in-law?”
Yan Su could not answer.
Jiang Peiying recovered her wits and nodded her head. “Yes, you’re right. Why don’t you come in first? Let’s not stand by the door to talk.”
As soon as Mo Jin entered the living room, she asked, “Where’s Yan Yan? Why is she nowhere to be seen? I saw the pictures on Sangsang’s phone. She’s an especially pretty child. She really takes after Susu…”
Jiang Peiying blushed from embarrassment. “Yan Yan resembles Mo Liuxi more. She was too tired out from playing with Little Apple today and fell asleep in the car. She’d be in the room now. Would you like to take a look?”
Mo Jin was so nervous that she could feel her heart beating in her throat. When she saw how angelic Yan Yan looked while sleeping, she had the sudden urge to wake her up for a kiss and a hug.
However, she could not bear to wake her little granddaughter up. Her heart felt moved. She had given up hope that her son would ever get married. Now, here he was with a wife and daughter. What a surprise this was.
“Susu, it’s been hard on you!” Mo Jin was especially grateful to Yan Su. “I can imagine how much sorrow Liuxi caused you. Now that the child is already so big, it’s about time for both of you to get married. In-Law, why don’t we hold a quick wedding in summer? Don’t worry about the betrothal gifts and the details. We’ll make sure that Susu is treated well.”
Jiang Peiying opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by Mo Jin again. “With regards to their marital home, what do you think of a landscaped villa by the foot of Mount Mu in Xia City, in addition to another villa by Interlaken in Switzerland?”
Jiang Peiying did not know what to say.
She was not familiar with Mount Mu. However, real estate was very expensive in Xia City, and a random villa easily cost tens of millions. Moreover, she was referring to a landscaped villa and a house in Switzerland. Those were not properties that money alone could buy.
