Are you doing that on purpose?” he asked, raising a brow.
“Doing what? Since when did I say anything about leaving your favorite flavor for you?” Yan Su was grinning deviously, looking like a sly fox.
Mo Liuxi looked at for a while before he removed his mask. He bent down, leaned in, and took a bite out of the ice cream she had just eaten from.
Yan Su was stunned. Wasn’t this the same as an indirect kiss?
Although this teasing was nothing compared to what they had before, she was still flustered, and her heart was racing. They were in a gray area now, flirting with each other. It felt like first love…heady and giddy…the woosh of adrenaline. She worried about losing him. They inwardly pondered each other’s intentions, and every bit of affection tasted sweeter than honey.
The two of them had so much history between them…but alas, so much conflict. But every time they met, there was a fantastic physical pull. Each had the power to effect a response from the other, and sometimes it was irritating in the extreme.
“What are you thinking about?” Mo Liuxi was displeased when she looked distracted. “You’re not thinking about Shi Xiang, are you?” he asked.
“No, I’m not. I’m thinking of calling Jin.” Yan Su changed out of her shoes and went in to get him from the play area.
Yan Jin took a bite out of his ice cream happily. His whole face lit up, “This is so delicious. How can ice cream be so good?”
Yan Su laughed. She was inclined to agree. This ice cream, in particular, was scrumptious: smooth and creamy, definitely the best she’d ever tasted. “Indeed, Mo Liuxi’s a real foodie.”
Her mind wandered back to when they were together and how he had always managed to get her yogurt, ice cream, milk, tea, and all sorts of goodies to please her. They had tried the best sashimi, crabs, lobsters, beef, and exotica. Everything always tasted much better than anything she’d had before, and on top of that, he was a good cook, too—no wonder she had put on quite a bit of weight when they were together.
“Hmmm.” Yan Jin nodded his little head. “Brother Mo, I think we can be good friends after all.”
Mo Liuxi grinned. “I know a perfect breakfast place in Beijing. I can deliver breakfast to you tomorrow.”
“You’re willing to do that?” Yan Jin stopped licking his ice cream and widened his eyes. His mouth was covered with ice cream, and he said, “I think delivering breakfast to me is just a cover-up. You just want to deliver breakfast to my sister.”
Yan Su was embarrassed, but Mo Liuxi played along without missing a beat. “No, I just think you’re a connoisseur, like me. It’s rare to meet a friend with similar interests.”
Yan Jin widened his adorable eyes and nodded his head happily. “Remember what you said then? You don’t want to deliver breakfast to my sister, and you don’t fancy my sister. If you end up together with her in the future, you’re a little pig.”
Yan Jin walked away with his ice cream afterward.
Mo Liuxi nearly bit his tongue. That little imp just laid down a trap for him.
Yan Su burst into giggles and shrugged her shoulders helplessly. “What can I say?!”
“What are you laughing at?” Mo Liuxi sat down beside her.
“I’m laughing cause you just got snubbed.” Yan Su chuckled. “This is payback for all the times you’ve bullied me.”
“Who’s the bully between us? Now think carefully before answering,” Mo Liuxi quipped. The more ice cream he ate, the more upset he got. He grabbed Yan Su’s ice cream and took another two bites of it. “Mmm. My favorite flavor.”
Yan Su was annoyed too, so she grabbed his ice cream and took a big bite.
It was so big that she was gasping from the coldness. She had sensitive teeth and couldn’t close her mouth.
“Stupid.” Mo Liuxi leaned forward and said, “Spit it out. I’ll bite half of it.”
Without thinking, Yan Su spat out half the ice cream. Mo Liuxi bit the ice cream, and their lips pressed together. The ice cream was split in two, and the sweetness melted in the back of their throats. Things were heating up!
