Su Qianxun saw Su Mochen the moment she entered the apartment, and she was pleasantly surprised. She ran over happily and said, “Big brother, you’re here! What happened after I left that day? Those people didn’t manage to catch you, did they? Erm… look at me. I’m so excited upon seeing you that I don’t even know what to say anymore. Why would you even be here if you were caught by them?”
“Silly girl, I know that things have been tough for you for the past two years.” Su Mochen ruffled her younger sister’s hair affectionately.
“It’s not tough. It’s not tough at all, because I’ve always believed that you’d come home one day, that grandpa will get better, and that mum will be back too. I’ve always believed that our family will be together again.” Su Qianxun hugged her older brother’s arm with a smile.
“Young mistress, let’s dig in first. I reckon that the young master is hungry too.” Aunt Zhang wore a joyous expression as she gazed at the pair of siblings.
“Jiye, it’s time to eat. Have you greeted our older brother yet?” Su Qianxun walked over and hugged her younger brother’s arm.
Su Jiye did not show any reaction, but he was tugging the hems of his own shirt. It was obvious that he was very happy too.
“Jiye, you’ve really grown. I’ve not seen you for a mere two years, but you’re almost taller than me now. Qianxun, I’m sorry for being so useless and allowing you and Jiye to go through so much hardship.” Su Mochen was dwelling in self-blame.
“Big brother, what are you saying? Take a look at us. We’re doing fine, aren’t we? These hardships did not stop us from growing healthily.” Su Qianxun blinked playfully.
“Let’s take a seat first. We’re finally able to have a reunion lunch this year.” Aunt Zhang was also happy that the three of them were together again.
After everyone sat down around the table, Su Qianxun kept grabbing food and placing them on her older brother, her younger brother and Aunt Zhang’s bowl. She was truly grateful for these people. She was grateful that her older brother had come back alive, that her younger brother had always stayed by her side and supported her, and that Aunt Zhang had helped them out without hesitation when they needed it the most.
Su Qianxun did not ask any questions during the meal. She just wanted the reunion lunch to go smoothly, as it had been a long time since they were able to eat together like this.
After lunch, Aunt Zhang went to the kitchen to cut some fruits while the siblings sat in the living room. Only then did Su Qianxun ask, “Big brother, where have you been for the past two years?”
“Qiao Bonian and Su Qingyun are seriously heinous beasts. They hired someone to get me into a car accident and knock my car off a cliff. Someone rescued me, and I was in a coma for one and a half years before I regained consciousness. If it was not for the fact that I was vengeful, I might not have woken up at all. After that, I recuperated for more than half a year before I recovered…”
As Su Mochen spoke, a hint of gloominess flashed past his eyes. Whatever hurt those people had inflicted on him, he would definitely make them pay for it in folds!
Even though Su Mochen only spoke briefly about what he had been through for the past two years, Su Qianxun could sense how dangerous things had been for him. She knew that she almost did not get to see her older brother again.
The rims of her eyes were red as she reached out and grabbed his hand. She held herself back from crying and said, “Big brother, thank you so much for coming back to us!”
Su Mochen’s gaze darkened when he heard what she said, and he tightened his grip on his younger sister’s hands. He knew very well that she must have gone through quite a lot of hardships to be able to reunite with him today.
In the past, she used to be the lady of a prestigious family, and growing up, she was pampered by both him and her grandfather. But now, for the sake of her family, she had no choice but to grit her teeth and stay strong in the face of adversity.
“Silly girl, the three of us will always enjoy a great relationship. No matter how other people have changed, this will never change!” Su Mochen reached out and grabbed Su Jiye’s hand too.
Su Qianxun did not want to talk about certain things in front of Su Jiye. Hence, she accompanied him for a nap. Only when he was asleep did she leave her room so that she could talk privately with Su Mochen.
“Big brother, what on earth are you up to nowadays? Why were you chased by the police?” Su Qianxun asked as she gazed anxiously at her older brother.
