“Why should we help them?!”
Someone abruptly asked the question.
Who was it?
The others immediately recognized the voice. It was Shan Jingfei.
They were all speechless.
Ye Hongxue said, “You can shut up now.”
Shan Jingfei regretted it as soon as she blurted out those words.
She was quick-tempered and impulsive. When she lost control, she would say anything. However, she would realize her mistake once she calmed down.
She didn’t like how Ye Hongxue spoke to her, but she stopped herself from saying anything.
Soon, they heard the sounds of fighting.
The team was in an open area connecting two tunnels.
They were surrounded by countless Spirit Stone Worms.
The team had five members.
They all had armor on.
However, the armor was covered in blood.
Dead Spirit Stone Worms were scattered around them.
However…
The more they killed, the more seemed to gather around them.
The place was soon packed.
Feng Wu looked from the worms to the five teenagers before she turned to Ye Hongxue. “The worms will take you all if you get too close.”
The worms indeed gave Ye Hongxue the creeps.
She had yet to recover from her previous experience of facing so many worms.
“We’ll split up here. Go wait for me at the formation core.”
Feng Wu was going to help those five people in passing, but she now realized that it wouldn’t be that easy. She would have to fight alongside them.
Shan Jingfei smirked before Ye Hongxue could say anything. “You’re abandoning us, then. I knew it! I knew you wouldn’t be that kind!”
Feng Wu didn’t know what to say.
She couldn’t be bothered to talk to Shan Jingfei.
Shan Jingfei had always struck others as a goddess who wouldn’t meddle in worldly affairs. However, she completely gave herself up after her true self was exposed.
Ye Hongxue gave her a stern look before she turned to Feng Wu. “Are you going to save them?”
Feng Wu nodded. “I can’t just walk past them when I have the ability to save them.”
Some of the tunnels had collapsed, and from the higher ground they were standing on, they could see all five team members.
Ye Hongxue asked, “Do you know who they are?”
Feng Wu said, “It doesn’t matter who they are.”
Ye Hongxue smiled bitterly. “No, it does.”
Feng Wu asked, “Why?”
Ye Hongxue said, “They’re from the Military Academy.”
Feng Wu asked, “The Military Academy?”
Lin Juncheng nodded. “The Military Academy and Imperial College are the top two schools in the empire. No other school can claim to be their equal.”
Feng Wu understood what he meant. It was like the status which Oxford and Cambridge held.
“The two schools used to be on friendly terms, but the relationship deteriorated because of competition over resources. We’ve had quite a few conflicts with them.
“The Military Academy answers directly to the military, and they’ve made some impressive achievements over the years. Because of that, the empire has been allocating more and more resources to that school, and our school has shown signs of decline.
“That’s just how we describe the situation. The truth is…” Lin Juncheng looked at Feng Wu. “The truth is that we’re no longer as powerful as the Military Academy.”
